Pictures are little sparse, as I was working long nights to get it finished in time (which it wasn't). Heavy duty track rods and track rod ends where fitted, as the originals where rust and looked slightly flimsy
Click image to enlarge Engine ancillaries where fitted, including a new radiator as the original found its way into the Disco  Fitted the tub properly, and secured floor and took it for a test drive. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Then started to build up the sides, windscreen frame and roof, and onto the wings Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Then went to build up the doors, can you spot the difference? Ignore the rust... Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge These have now been fixed and arrived earlier this afternoon. Will take at least a week to build them up and get them ready. Surfing Gumtree I found some red doors 6 miles from my house going cheap, so snapped them up to get the car back on the road. Took the wheels off the Disco, have wanted these on the Defender since I've owned it. Power coated gloss black Click image to enlarge And some nice new tyres to finish it off Click image to enlarge And here's how she's currently sitting Click image to enlarge And the interior Click image to enlarge Very pleased with how she's turned out say far, but a lot more work to go so watch this space! Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated Ben Rebuilt 1996 black/white Defender 90 300 TDi |

Thanks guys Got my spare wheel carrier on last night before I had venturing out to go get my dads car, snows just started to settle in so good timing! Shall hopefully have the doors built up, then just swap the locks off the red doors and we'll be sorted. After that the split charge system goes in and get the lights, etc all wired in with the new fuse box. Ben

Another busy month and not enough done to the car!
Got the new doors on, need a little bit of fettling to get them to fit perfectly. They've totally improved the look of the car, and I must say I'm very pleased! Also fitted the steering guard, a-bar, spot and roof lights and lots and lots of wires! Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Still much to do, need to replace one of the steering joints (rubber split not long after it went back on the road) amd UJ's in the prop shafts as dirt seems to have got in them whilst the grease nipples where off. Click image to enlarge Decided its time to tidy up the interior a bit. Had the headlining out for ages, been waiting on me to get some more black carpet to trim it. Finally ordered some at the beginning of the week! then decided that the rubbish looking grey trim panels where awful too, so grabbed a tin of satin black and got to work! Click image to enlarge Got my headlining done! Ready to cover Click image to enlarge Fitted! (Rubbishpicture, but will get a better one once all the trims in) Click image to enlarge Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated Ben Rebuilt 1996 black/white Defender 90 300 TDi |

Keep meaning to keep my thread up to date...
Eventually sorted out the steering joint and UJ's (one was oval shaped!) The snorkel is now on, and as well as a few other aesthetics I've almost sorted out the interior Changes the surrounds on the spotlights from grey to black Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Couple other 'arty' shots Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Whilst up a mates helping him paint a bumper we decided on an articulation test Click image to enlarge Bloody glad we did, as what you can't see is the NSR spring popped out! Ordered a set of rear polycarbonate dislocation cones earlier today. Also managed to dent my exhaust off the anti-roll bar mount, so considering my options before I fit a full stainless system. Briefly fitted a Brownchurch roof rack I had lying around. Looks silly in my eyes as its for a truck cab, so removed it. Click image to enlarge And finally, I've fitted the last of the original trim (after painting black) and one of the old bench seats. After a new set, the individual style but waiting to see what I can find. Excuse the rubbish photo Click image to enlarge Other than that, not much has changed. Nor has my joy for driving it. :D Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated Ben Rebuilt 1996 black/white Defender 90 300 TDi |
