New roof lights
Changed my old Hellas for some LED lights and can now illuminate several counties worth for much less power! The old weak lights were starting to fill with water. New ones are IP67 rated so hopefully will fare better whilst it continues to bucket down. Rolling Eyes

Special offer from The Man For Land Rovers. Couldn't resist when I saw six of them hooked up on an old county. Practically turn anybody standing nearby translucent when they are on!
The new lights are JW Speaker 700s

Saw similar on Ebay available from the USA, however the price from The Thatched Garage was much more competitive.

The old drill holes for the Hellas were too low on the roof rack to fit the lamps upright, so to save drilling new holes I hung them upside down. I actually prefer them hanging under the bar in a low profile way, but the wind noise is more than the former lights. - Not that it is noticeable above the rest of the Deafeners roar.

Remember not to look at them as they can blind you. Mind you they are great lights but will still make your eyes water a little when you see the price.

As there were already lights on the roof I used the existing cabling - although it received a lot of tidying up seeing as the old wiring was utterly pump! (Bits everywhere, all different colours and types, loose disconnected wires etc!! There was even a spare feed up there but it was non-live??) Currently the wires come up out of a hole in the roof, which is a nice water ingress point Rolling Eyes I was advised by the seller that the wiring should go up via the snorkel I have but as there was already that hole in the roof it was a bit late to rectify properly.
You can see the feed to the roof rack in the side angle shots...

Thanks. I think the beam pattern is the Spot Pattern (as opposed to Flood or Trap patterns?) - more info can be got from the Forward Lighting Catalogue which you can download from JW Speaker (The Model 700 is on page 35)

Like K9F said, the nightime display is not something you want to gaze at for very long. (They are bright enough in the daytime!) The quoted output of each lamp is 780 Lumens, so I would believe people can probably blind themselves with systems putting out over a thousand lumens or more! Here is a shot with the whole lot on... sidelights (which are subject to MOT failure due to not being white), HID headlamps and the new LED roof bar lamps. Them rabbits will see me comin' now! The camera lens seemed to pick up reflections and all sorts such as the yellow dots visible near the reflections off the bonnet.
