Good quality pictures there. Just for interest how/where was the camera mounted on the inside? seems like a better position than just pointed through the windscreen - captures the people inside better. The sound on the 2nd is because the camera is in it's fully waterproof case and it was vibrating a bit too much through the roof rack.
The first one is mounted to the passenger head rest leg using a Manfrotto super clamp that I used to use to clamp cameras to a roll cage when I used to race, that in turn attaches to the GoPro tripod mount. This is the clamp http://www.cameragrip.co.uk/acatalog/hague_sc2_clamp.html It means that it can be almost mounted right in the centre of Landy, so no probs if it has 2 people up front. There are other clamps than can be put onto the headrest. EDIT: Also, you don't need it in the waterproof housing when mounting inside so the sound quality is far better. I bought the Black edition as well, also got the wasabi power pack with the 2 extra batteries and a few extra mounts. The video quality is 2nd to none, an awesome piece of kit
the only problem is choosing a default setting, I've decided on the 2.7k, gives the best results and doesn't take too long to convert either Optimists say the glass is half full..
Pessimists say the glass is half empty.. Engineers say the glass is twice the size it needs to be! |

1080@60fps.
I don't use anything else. Mostly it'll be used for Mountain Biking so high frame rate is important. I import directly into Sony Movie Studio, so no real reason to run anything higher. Running at 60fps means I can slow down to half speed as export is done at 30fps as most of my stuff goes on the internet. 2.7 is awesome, but means I'm restricted to 30fps and of course you can't edit in 2.7. after hearing reports from another h3 owner, i would really recommend getting additional batteries and the external charger or the bacpac battery. I'm running 1080 and these new cameras like electricity

Yeah, to be honest, if you're after a camera that's going to give you all day use straight out of the box, then you need a camcorder, not an action-cam. Too many people are moaning that the battery life is bad. The thing is tiny, but has lots of high end features. Anyone expecting a long battery life is asking a bit too much. I generally get about 2.5 hours of usage including the WiFi being switch on (that's for the remote and phone app). If it's going to be used inside the Landy then you have no issues as you can charge it whilst you go and of course the bacpac is an option, if, like me it's used for descretly mounting (and no I don't mean hidden in the spare room when your girlfriend's/wife's best friend comes to stay!) or helmet cam (ahem, again, I mean crash helmet!) then the bacpac is a no no. The best thing is, a spare battery is only £20, so having three still makes it pretty cheap! The only downside (currently) is that there is no external battery charger, the battery has to be inside the camera to charge. I really hope GoPro bring an external charger out. I've been toying with getting a Go Pro for a while as my wife and kids seem to go through cameras faster than socks - dropping them in the sea, getting sand in places you shouldn't get sand.
I've seen the quality of the images and love it.......but......my question is to those already owning one could you use is as a day in day out camera? |

You could, but probably too much hassle. You'd have to put the LCD screen on which makes it even more ££££.
I also use a Nikon AW100 which is a waterproof (down to 10m), dustproof, shock proof etc........ which is pretty good. There are also other rugged cameras out there like the AW100. Lumix, Sony, Fiji, they all make a camera that suits what you need. I'm flying to Atlanta on Saturday for work and plan to pick up a Hero 3 Black when I'm there, good tip about the extra battery - does it still fit in the waterproof case though?

The Battery BacPac comes with a different door to the housing which keeps it all waterproof; http://www.gopro.com/hd-hero-accessories/hero3-battery-bacpac This pac is supposed to give you double the power, for the same price (actually £10 cheaper), you can get 2 standard batteries giving you 3 times the life (including the supplied battery) and keep the unit the same size, the downside is, you have to swap batteries over. Forgot to say too;
Getting a camera from the US is very tempting, however, for me it's a no. Yes, it saves money, but your warrantly is screwed if it breaks. You will have to take it back to the US as they won't honor it in the UK. I spend a far bit of money on photography equipment and it hurts everytime I know I could get it so much cheaper.
