Moss / algae in window runners
Anyone have any ideas as to how to stop moss and other green stuff setting up home in the rear window channels ? And how best to remove it ?...without damage to surrounding paintwork.

I too had moss cultivating on mine. Decided a cover would be the solution.

Due to the fact the mileage I cover each year has drastically reduced my Landy gets used only very rarely and the size of my garage precludes storing it away. Last week giving it the once over I had to get my credit card out and clear the friggin' moss out of the top wing seam. Could have used Pathclear. Well have been considering it for a while and being in the marine industry am well acquainted with numerous contractors. Off to a cover manufacturer who makes all sorts, pick a decent 100% waterproof material, two guys one days toil and truck left so tailored template pattern can be made and then the final product. End result vehicle cover that I am pleased with. Not cheap due to material chosen but happy with.

Excuse poor photo quality but taken by manufacturer and sent to me. Because it rained most of the day I can't put it back on and take more photos until the rain stops and the vehicle is dry.

Diluted solution of IPA (rubbing alcohol) and water, 25% IPA rest water.

Pour into channels and lightly scrub with an old toothbrush then pour in more solution.

Leave for an hour and then rinse with fresh water. Then use the silicon spray.

The IPA mix kills the algae Thumbs Up

I use the pressure washer, as the Algea only grows on the outside runners on mine. Thumbs Up

I thought 'window boxes' came as standard with every Land Rover.

I sprayed mine with Polycell Mouldkiller (triggerspray - from any DIY store) last year and it hasn't appeared since

IPA should work, fine

I use this stuff as APC, All Purpose Cleaner, for mats, and general cleaning, also softening really stubborn grime...it also worked spot on removing Algae from the window seals on a RR Sport, using a soft brush, I used it diluted 1:10, but you could step it up if it was really tough.

I'd ass to a spray bottle, soak the areas a few times then use a tooth brush or detailing brush if you have one.

When the moss grows in the window channels of my S2A it prevents the windows from sliding open.

Had you considered that this might be a desirable extra security "layer"? Laughing 1970 Series 2A 88"
