Something wrong there (at least in fog) Whistle
You can't judge how far to stay back in heavy fog unless you can see the vehicle ahead... ergo fog lights.
I agree there are a lot of morons who turn them on in light drizzle Evil or Very Mad but in a real pea-souper (such as we get here) if everyone uses them they can be very useful. Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing...

A red glow in the fog doesn't tell you what the ground conditions are between you and it.

Cheesed off with postal deliveries. I've been waiting for a couple of packages through the post and patience is wearing thin. Our postie didn't even venture into our village on Saturday, the village grapevine has little to gossip about now the milkman joined Ernie in the great creamery in the sky. Today a new postie appeared in the village and what did he deliver?.........................Pizza discount sheet, double glazing flyer and another glossy sheet of paper extolling the latest virtues of Virgin mobile which doesn't even bloody work round here Rolling Eyes
These will be packages requiring signatures so another day wasted Evil or Very Mad

^^^^ Tell me about it same for me. I take it you live in a rural area like myself too? We get our post about 1pm too. Rolling Eyes I find most of my life waiting for the damned postman otherwise he'll scribble a "you were out note" and clear off. Then you have to wait two extra days for re-deliver or collect it. Evil or Very Mad Oh and if it isn't that the mail get's damaged instead. TheThunder RollsπŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

I only live just outside Hereford but might as well be the other side of the country as far as the little big city is concerned. If we post a letter in the village post box it is collected by the postman based in Hereford then sent to Worcester over 20 miles away to be sorted only to come back to Hereford to the sorting office which just distributes it back out. If it wasn't for the Eastern Europeans, walking down the one street in town with shops on, it would be like Bournemouth sea front on pensioners outing day. It won't be long before the remaining public toilets will have the condom machines taken out and replaced with Preperation H dispensing machines. Shops and businesses don't put wheelchair access in for disabled people in the normal run of things, it's for the OAP's and their motability scooters and shopping trolleys.
I could go on but enough is enough Rolling Eyes

On a serious note. Shops not accepting PayPal on-line is really annoying. Yes, I know their reasons for choosing not to accept it as an option due to charges but all the same. It's a PITA transferring the same cash from one to another when it could be so easy. Same with RM their site won't take PP a royal pain that is! Banging Head TheThunder RollsπŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

I find the £20 notes given over at Christmas to the delivery and collection boys works wonders - £60 well invested, my postie will leave in a 'safe place' and bring back signed for the next day if I'm out without asking. Mince pies and a coffee smooths things along as well.

The collection boys take all the post and also bring me bags/supplies as required - don't mind hanging on if I'm a bit behind so all good.

Some areas do seem to have a few issues with the 'out and no card left scenario' which must be a pain for the customer and sender as well.

DJ

PS - the pensioners are every where round here, the go on the bus to Bournemouth! there's one with an off road type wheelchair up our local woods, you'd be amazed what he gets through mud wise, I have my name down for one of those Thumbs Up 1989 200tdi 90 csw
