Relays under drivers seat

My first post, I am hoping somebody can identify the 3 relays under the driver's seat. I have purchased and partially installed a Waeco heated seat kit (wiring yet to do). My plan is to install an additional fusebox in the driver's seat 'box' so I can wire in the heaters. However, I dont know where to take a 15A switched feed from (I dont want to start pulling the existing fuse boxes apart yet) - would anybody know if there is a suitable switched supply under the drivers seat I could use?

The relays are for

ABS return pump
Starter
Glowplug
and Main Relay for harness

My car has 4 relays there - one of yours seems to be missing

thanks, there is another 'black box' just out of view - its actually labelled fog light. Its a probably 3 or 4 times bigger than the other 3 relays. Dont know if thats your 4th relay. I have the the XL model which has no optional extras so probably has very basic wiring - the most sophisticated bit is the electric windows!

That one is the rear fog light "ecu".

The top photo does not show an ABS relay and I suspect that the vehicle in question is non-ABS.

(The ABS and optionally HFS relays would be on the extra mounting tabs at the lower right of the photo if they were fitted).

It is very unlikely that there is a suitable switched supply under the seat already.

You may want to consider adding a new axiliary fuse box in the seat locker, which can be powered either from a feed from the battery or from the feed that already connects into the existing fuse box (it is very easy to add a connection to the main feed on this box). If you opt for the latter, it will of course be fed by the 100A megafuse on the battery for added protection.

I suggest studying the electical manual you have been sent to see how the OE seats are wired, and then extrapolating the simplest way to achieve a similar effect. It is generally possible to get the same result in an easier way, give the difficulty of matching most of the factory connectors.

Blackwolf - thanks again for all the wiring diagrams etc. I have got an auxillary fuse box which I do intend to connect to the main feed box. However, having never disconnected the battery before on this vehicle, is the any thing else I need to do apart from :
1. Switch ignition on to run position,
2. Switch ignition Off
3. Within 17 seconds disconnect battery

to stop the alarm going off

Will I loose anything from the ECU??

I think the book says 15 seconds. You won't lose anything except probably the radio code (make sure you know what that is beforehand, it's on a card in a plastic bag taped to the battery when the vehicle leaves the factory).

Open up the battery compartment, get your spanner ready, then do the thing with the key, and you will have plenty of time.

I've had a after market alarm fitted, but the ecu immobiliser is still active also, so do I need to keep the battery off time to less than 15sec? Confused its only a car!

That battery disconnection procedure is for those who have the Land Rover Battery backed sounder installed. If you do not follow the procedure, the sounder will sound the alarm. No impact to ECU immobiliser. Hopefully your after market alarm also has a battery backed sounder in which case you will need to follow the manufacturers instructions on how to avoid alarm sounding when disconnecting the car battery
