Good job I'm an enthusiast!!!!
07 Defender - work done so far.........
1.New Clutch- due to sharp gear changes
2.Driver's door re-aligned/resprayed-not shutting properly/white specks on door
3.Replaced Oil dipstick-difficult to remove
4.ECU software upgraded-revs increased about 200 revs when changing gear
5.Clutch bled/re-adjusted-not disengaging properly
6.Leaking swivel-both sides replaced
7.Modified oil sump fitted-as per bulletin
Only two visits to garage and vehicle has been colllected/replacement vehicle delivered both times so no problem.

Questions-
1.I've read that the engine/transmission has been lowered due to bearing wear-would this coincide with oil sumps hitting the prop-shaft's hence a modified sump??
2.I've had a new clutch/revised ECU software and the clutch is a lot better but when driving hard, the revs still increase when changing gear-anybody had similar experiences or found a solution? I have tried an 08 model which does the same.Is it something LR is looking into/have they sorted the problem?
3.Regarding the fuel breather pipe, has anybody had any problems/had it repositioned? I've noticed newer models are in a different place to earlier ones!
4.Has anybody experienced a whining noise coming from the engine/gearbox area on the cold mornings?Maybe gearbox/turbo but goes away when warm? Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

I think my Landy's an hypocondriac but it's still better than my old TD5!!!! Rolling with laughter

Sadly you have to be an enthusiast to accept all of the faults, mine is about to have its 3rd turbo installed, the revs increasing on gear change is something I found that my driving naturally compensated for after a few hours by backing off the throttle a split second before the gearchange, but is is still annoying when someone else drives it.

I have had ABS problems, and have asked them to look at the clutch as I was concerend that having read about other people having to have new ones it was better to be safe and sure.

Overall it is a nicer drive than the old defenders, but it is a shame that the power is lacking in comaprison to a tuned TD5. 2019 MY Disco 5 HSE Lux

The only thing I miss from the TD5 is the sound of the engine, but don't miss the gearchange, misty windows, and revving it's nuts off.

I'm sure with all the problems of the 07 Defender clutch, they'll change it anyway. The problems raised with this model does paint a negative picture but unless I'd been made aware of them, would probably not have noticed. To keep things in perspective, I see this website as a useful tool to highlight and resolve potential problems at an early stage. It's still a fantastic vehicle, and you'll get problems with any vehicle, Japanese whatever!

Couldn't agree more !! Love the sound and power of a tuned TD5.

The perfect defender 2007 model , with Tuned TD5 engine Very Happy

When I spoke to D44 at your event they mentioned it had been rotated slightly. The transfer box now hangs BELOW the chassis rails, unlike before when it was inside so to spk. The h/brake drum is also very low 110 D250 SE HT

Gearbox /clutch gremlins ?
08 puma 90 with 6k done ; gearbox can be a bit notchy and rattles slightly also if clutch is let in while coasting to a stand still. i some times get a clunk when changing fron 4 -5 ( Like the mainshaft R380 death clunk from my old 300tdi disco that cost me some time ago Sad ) but not when changing gear in any other sequence. Love the car , but it does sound like a bag of bolts compared to my previous TD5. humour is that delicious perception of incongruity from a vantage point of ease and superiority...

I've just had my '05 TD5 D90's spigot bush replaced (under warranty) with a 'modified' version after having trouble changing from 1st to 2nd when cold.
I was told 'There is a problem'. (Apparently they can break up.)

RE: Revs after gear change.
Simple fix to solve the reving, its the fuse for the trailer connector. Check all the fuses, you will find a blown one-change and youll be 100%
