The park switch is a common failing part, regardless of VW mod

Just done mine last week.
Put up with none parking wipers for months as they would park with wash wipe, or intermittent but not if on normal wipe, but then the park switch failed altogether so the only way to stop my wipers after wash wipe, or intermittent was to turn ignition off. Not nice job to do as I have air con Andy |

Wise to fix this with a new part as soon as possible, if you ignore it the broken part of the switch can cause a short and blow the fuse usually when its pishing with rain

I suffer this problem. I have managed to suss out the timing on flicking the wiper blades so they park roughly at the bottom of the screen now. My intermittent has turned into always on speed too, so I have to play flick the wiper blades on (and off) by hand at the moment. With the drizzle we've been having recently, this skill seems to be required every time I venture out. How I pray for more clement weather! When I initially bought the Defender I prayed for storms and snow so I could relish 'going anywhere' - times soon change!
Question: Would the intermittent timing problem be a fault with the park switch too? (I'm guessing it is in the 99.99% park switch blame) P.S. Found the very handy:

Glad I found this topic. My 1999 td5 has just started doing this. Looks like a new park switch. 1999 Defender TD5 110
