BFG AT 265 75 16 on Zu rims.

Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge I'm very happy with these tyres and rims. Just one small disadvantage of this tyre size - as you can see in the last pic - if offroading in muddy situation there's a lot of mud on the car 
Anyway, I read your post on the Dutch LRCH forum and "prikpagina". If you're around near Amsterdam, you are welcome to see the wheels for yourself and have a chat (or beer  ). Just sent me a PM.
I did buy the rims and tyres from an independent LR specialist here. There are some garages around Amsterdam, but I do not have personal experience with them. I always have business with this independed LR specialist (he's very good), as I've had some bad experiences with the stealers  Cheers, Vincent

Thanks for the pictures, gives me some inspiration. Think you are mistaking me for someone else, this is the only forum I am on. Let me know who you independent specialist is, will keep him in mind for the future. Looks like I might move back to the Netherlands in the future. |

Have to agree, 265 looks better. I've had 265 on my Td5 before going back to 235.
You have more rolling resistance on 265. you can feel the difference on the same road after you swap the tyres. while driving, back off the accelerator and let it roll, the 265 drops speed faster. in 10yrs, i'm on to my 3rd set of rubber. don't scrimp on the tyres, 10yr old tyres are an accident waiting to happen. the rubber hardens resulting in bad performance, when under hard braking and the ride becomes harsh. So the choice is yours, if you like the looks and can afford the gas, go for 265. if you prefer to save every drop, go with 7.50x16. From the land of the most expensive land rover defenders on planet earth. At �125k for a XS 110 csw and you get to own it only for 10yrs! Please find me a good reason to stay on this island. |

Toyo MT's on ours, 265's on 8 inch rims. 4 years of use between the 110 and 90 and I think they will out live me. A bit rough and noisy but I will buy them again, god willing I live that long. In the U.K. mud they would be the bee's nuts.

When I lived in the US I had a 1995 North Americn spec Defender. They came with 265/75 BFG ATs. I couldn't handle the slippy Mid-west mud so I swapped to the local land Rover club's tyre of choice - 255/85/16 BFG MTs- on the standard alloy wheels. They were great both on road and off road.
So that's another size you might want to consider. And regarding the MOT now that I live in England again. I run 4 235/85s and still have the little 205/75? as a spare which came from the factory. No problems at 4 MOTs. |

I fitted 305x70x16 cooper stt on mine,they are a bit wide for the standard rims.

Just my experience, me and my dad both had 200tdi 90 pickups. I have always run 235 85 16 and he has always run 265 75 16. kuhmo kl71, bf atr's, cooper discoverers but in every situation my tyres were so much more quite with better fuel econmy and better off and on road traction. he only runs the 265 because he has aftermarket rims and 235 would look lost on them. wider Probably better for sand i guess. I have 265 75 16 on my td5 and wish i had 235 85 again!

Finally decided on Kens advice to go for 265 BFG. Looks great, and no discernible difference in the driving. Not done enough miles to check consumption, but she's low mileage anyway.

. Im after a new set of those tyres + one extra Boost alloy. Where did you get your from? Ive just looked on Padocks website and the tyre/wheel combo is dearer than buying separately!!
Im surprised you havent started the 'white lettering debate'. I see youve put the white lettering on the inside. |
