Not forever, but my insurance runs out tonight and I can't afford to re-new, they want £750!

Yep! If it was my insurance on my own it would be at least £1800! I hate the way insurance works, its just if your a certain age AND MALE then your
 basically! What can I sy tho, been driving 6 months with no no claims! Still though! Ben

That is my dad as main driver. Problem is, I'm 17, got "no" driving experience (learnt to drive when I was 12 FFS) and insurance on two cars. The Fiesta is cheaper to run though, so it wins hands down at the moment! But I might be changing jobs soon, and can start tesco dot com driving in July so I can afford to be back in the Defender again! Other problem is that I work in a licensed restaurant at the moment! Ben

I remeber those days mate, my first motor was a 1982 golf gti, paid £650 for the car and £800.00 third party only!!..it gets better mate, probably one of the only benefits of getting old are cheaper premiums

Been two days and I have already needed to use the Defender! Had to jump start a mates car, and the fiesta couldn't do it without have the
revved off it!  Ben

 So you're not insured then. That's known as "fronting" and will result in your, sorry, your dad's insurance being cancelled if you have an accident. Plenty on the subject on Disco3, some of it even written by people who've spent the last 20 years in that line of work as opposed to the well intention but ultimately clueless Daily Mail readers who always come along to spout some about "rights".

Dont want this to turn into a boring discussion and loads of pointless posts like the D3 site but. I can remember years ago when trying to get insurance on a V8 P1, this insurance company advised me to put the car in my mums name insure it as my mums car and name me as a driver.
