Is that one of the signs that the battery on the fob is almost due for changing?

Sounds plausible, although have a look at the indicator light on dial.
I believe that: If the light flashes rapidly for 10secs when the lock is pressed then adjusts to a slower frequency the alarm is armed. If the light flashes rapidly for 10secs when the lock is pressed but FAILS TO ADJUST after 10secs to a slower frequency, the fob battery needs replacing. |

Tried a new battery. Same issue. But with both fobs, new and old battery, the dash indicator light flashes rapidly then slows to a regular rate. Hmmmmmm '09 SVX #200 '10 Morphy Richards.. I mean Prius |

When you changed the batteries did u hold the button down with them out to reset the counter in the fob.

Changed the battery again. But this time within 30s of turning the ignition off and by pressing one of the controller buttons after the old battery was removed and the new one put in . as per the manual '09 SVX #200

You could try resynchronising the fobs to the 10AS. They do go out of synch sometimes and the pre programmed easy resync is to lock and unlock the defender 2 times using only the fob and then repeat the process with any other fobs that you have. If the problem is still apparent repeat the above process but do it 4 times instead of 2 with each fob, this is then a full resync. If that doesn't work then you will probably need to go and find some one with a diagnostic tool to check the 10AS ECU for trigger events/DTC's, I would then do a relearn of the key fobs to eliminate that as the cause of your issue

Thanks Brian Tried the easy resynch but to no avail, so I think a full resynch is in order... Downside is that the security card seems to be missing, so a call to the dealer is in order.
