The park brake switch is on the handbrake assembly, you could remove the shroud on the handbrake and make sure it's working OK...? Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's)

As above..... I had the same with mine from dealership (when new). I reached under the vehicle and put the plug (single wire) on (it was hanging along side the transmission).
No problems since then Glyn |

so it should be reached on the underside? or take off the rubber on the top side? A picture would be great if possible, sorry I am not hands on yet, but bringing it in to dealer will be much effort plus labour...

If you start by pulling back the handbrake gaitor youy will have something like this:
Click image to enlarge The switch (2) is bolted to the main bracket (1). Make sure the connector (16) is attached. If you can't see the connector/wire at all, look underneath the vehicle to see if it has fell through. Glyn |

On mine, almost from new, the switch on the handbrake lever was knackered. First stuck on, then off.
Bought a new one for a few quid and saved on the diesel by not driving to the dealer. easy to do from inside Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

Nice pic from Glyn, as ever
One more thing - be careful when you pull back the rubber gaitor - it's held in place by a couple of small plastic pin-clips (not on the diagram) and the rubber is easy to tear. I'll second that! Very easy to tear. There is one as you look at the handbrake, one against the seatbox and i believe one on the back side of the cover as well???

Unfortunatly I am up at 0530 every morning (0430 your time, 0330 UK time ). At least I get to finish work at 1330 Tues- Fri . Only other down side is that I try to be in bed by 2100 which is about the same time the forum gets busy . Glyn |

There is 3 plastic "nail" that holds the rubber, i just pry the rubber back, the connector was ok, i think (2) was stuck, just touch it a bit and all is back to normal, thanks.
