Hand brake not coming on when hand brake applied
Puma 2.2 110xs, 1 month old, when i turn the ignition to III, handbrake like comes up with all the abs, tc, engine etc for a few seconds and go off, as usual like the start up cycle, but when they go off, the handbrake light goes off too, event though the handbrake is engaged, pulling up and putting down, but no handbrake light, the brake itself is working, ie engaged when pulled up and released when lever down, but the light dont reflect.

The park brake switch is on the handbrake assembly, you could remove the shroud on the handbrake and make sure it's working OK...? Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's)

As above..... I had the same with mine from dealership (when new). I reached under the vehicle and put the plug (single wire) on (it was hanging along side the transmission).

No problems since then Thumbs Up

so it should be reached on the underside? or take off the rubber on the top side? A picture would be great if possible, sorry I am not hands on yet, but bringing it in to dealer will be much effort plus labour...

If you start by pulling back the handbrake gaitor youy will have something like this:

The switch (2) is bolted to the main bracket (1). Make sure the connector (16) is attached. If you can't see the connector/wire at all, look underneath the vehicle to see if it has fell through.

On mine, almost from new, the switch on the handbrake lever was knackered. First stuck on, then off.
Bought a new one for a few quid and saved on the diesel by not driving to the dealer.
Censored easy to do from inside Thumbs Up Tell someone you love them today because life is short.

Nice pic from Glyn, as ever Thumbs Up
One more thing - be careful when you pull back the rubber gaitor - it's held in place by a couple of small plastic pin-clips (not on the diagram) and the rubber is easy to tear. Tell someone you love them today because life is short.

I'll second that! Very easy to tear. Big Cry There is one as you look at the handbrake, one against the seatbox and i believe one on the back side of the cover as well???

There is 3 plastic "nail" that holds the rubber, i just pry the rubber back, the connector was ok, i think (2) was stuck, just touch it a bit and all is back to normal, thanks.
