2004 Defender 110 Td5 CSW Java Black
Key mod
So I can't afford 90e on a new key and I have a TD5 so here's what i did

From this:

BURN!!!


Scrape


Clean


Drill


Grind


Test


Glue


Re-assemble

You need to get the key near to the back of the fob as possible, almost flush but leave 1-2mm for glue.

I used hot melt and seems to hold it solid well

There is also a small lug you need to trim away inside the fob

Lastly not shown in the photos but I insulated the circuit board from the key metal with sparky tape.

It's alright but it does make it quite a big key. Shocked

Would any know if their is a transponder in a tdci key ? (for the immobiliser)

It's the same as above TD5 and Puma both use 10AS Alarm / Immob

If you have a nice LR square key, I'd get a key cut to use in the old Austin / Mini style. Not sure if the newer square LR ones work.
