Anyone run a Husky EW8000 winch?
I'm just wondering how the wiring is done.... unlike my 8274, there doesn't seem to be any room to bolt the solenoid onto the winch itself, so I'm assuming the solenoid would be remotely mounted?

How do they come when they're "new".... is there 2 or 3 feet of cable (3 of them, from the motor) running to the solenoid pack?

I suppose just fitting the solenoid into an IP65 box under the wing somewhere would be ideal.

and what about the handset socket? any good ideas?

EDIT: Sorted now, I'm missing the plastic end cover where the solenoid usually lives.

Add a 6hp Bowmotor before you fit it, really worth while.

Also did you sort your washer motor?

Don't forget your 4th wire. Earth going from husky motor underside (the small bolt in the middle) to chassis or directly to battery.

Depending on how high the husky is on the bumper mounting points you'll have to connect the cable or between bumper and motor (a pain when it comes loose/checking-inspecting and needs to be done before you bolt down the husky) or if your motor rests on the bumper from underneath the bumper with a bolt going through bumper into motor. (make sure the motor is 100% in contact with the bumper, if not you risk deforming it when tightening this bolt!)

oh and clearly,if going the second route, measure and double check your bolt length.... Rolling Eyes

Yes, several (one on the Puma and two on the Series 1). Excellent winch!

Latest incarnations use Albright solenoids anyway, but if the early type it is a worthwhile upgrade (it's still worth protecting the solendoids though). Nothing wrong with the standard motor.

If you want an industrial quality electric winch you can't do better than one of these.

Mine is mounted on a Mantec bumper and sits on 4 spacers so the wires can run underneath.

Ah, interesting, as my bumper has a couple of "rails", about inch or so wide and 3/4" tall.... reckon the cables would easilt fit under them.

Can crimp some up the perefect length to fit under the wing to the solenoid box.
