All,
Thanks for the heads up...I noticed at the weekend when my very kind missus was driving me home form the pub that the passenger side heated seat works wonderfully. I guess therefore that there is a problem with the drivers side seat. I have tried swapping the bases but that has no effect so I'm guessing it's a problem elsewhere in the loop. Any ideas? Stoo |

Stoo,
As an electrician myself it could be a myriad of possibilities, high resistance in the line due to corroded contact, moisture ingress, relay contact(s) corroded/pitted. Would get myself a decent wiring diagram a multimeter and start fault finding. Alternatively depending on the set up, swap passenger and driver's relays over and see if the fault transfers. If not multimeter would be next step. Good luck. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! I have complained about the lack of firm support on my drivers seat cushioning and it has been on back order for two weeks... why if this is a current model?? 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..

Priority of parts go to the track a dealer with customer waiting on a none VOR part is right down the list of care...plus i would imagine you are a few miles away from the dresdon store. Mike |

I don't give a toss about who comes first as i spent £28k on a faulty car and a current model which has many coming off the line every day and there are according to a film i seen recently there are 100's in storage so why SHOULD i wait more than 5 days?? 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..

Thats just the way it is - production shortfalls impact LR much more so thats why the priority is set...even the off occasion when you have a VOR need...sometimes, its manufacturer issues, but it cost millions to stop the track. As for them in storage - i think that may be old info. They dont have any in, they are all sold when they are made, this year they stopped production instead of bothballing any models. The only save new to be released models and stock bought, waiting to be shipped. They dont make without customers anymore Mike |

Just to get back on subject...I have taken the vehicle in to my local dealer (still under extended warranty) and they have told me that the heater element in the back rest is faulty and because of the type of circuit employed this causes the base not to work either. I thought this might be useful to anyone trying to fix a similar problem themselves.
It is covered by my warranty and will therefore be fixed free Does anyone know if this will mean a new seat? Or if the elements are replaceable? Stoo |
