12600 miles and the transfer box has had enough. Did 200 mile up country Monday morning, great on the motorway but as soon as I pulled off it was backlash central.
Nice man from lr assist came and said its splines on boc to tb or the TB itself. Took it into hunters in Chester and collected a very nice 62 plate westminster run out edition FFRR. Think I'll keep it tbh! Awaiting the verdict and timescale but I'm in no rush |

As I remember, mesh between gearbox and transfer box is completely dry and the MT82-LT230 angle is somehow "wrong" - splines shredded very easily. LR dealer here already warned me this might happen without prompting
Which other member had similar problem about 6 months back? Let us know the final diagnosis and good luck Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

As has already been mentioned, Hunters Chester are very helpful, although my dad doesn't seem to be able to go in there without buying something He went in there for a service last time and came home with a new car An engine to TDi for! Seem q nice outfit.
They phoned just now saying they can't replicate the fault...but it only does it when its hot....not warm. Still they have found out the drivers heated seat pads broke and replaced that. They'll run it again tomorrow they say. Do like the FFRR feel like royalty! |

When my 90 went in for the clutch I was loaned a freelander. It had done 200 miles, on the way me and the girls (2&4) went off roading in it down the local byways Probably the first and last time that freelander will ever see mud........ Darren

just a note - my gearbox was clunking from Day 0 and 2 years later it stopped when LR caved in and replaced the clutch. --

lr assist cars are held at enterprise, they supply tthe loan car. The lr man asked me what lr product I would like, I said a new range rover......that is what I got. The problems logged. It only does it when its hot so no real issue. It'll get sorted. |

Well for the 3rtd time I have had the LR man out.
The techy drove it and said the front diff. Had it on the ramp and came back with the TB as I suspected. Bookl in Monday to drop the TB and check for main shaft wear. If OK then new TB. Only getting a freelander for the loan car. Hopefulyy be back to old form soon. |
