I am going to go with the close fine type Serck Marston intercooler. Two reasons for this choice, first because as I have aircon its radiator more or less occupies the whole front area (bar a couple of inches) and is of the close fin type, almost entirely covering the intercooler which resides just behind it. The second reason is the make due to its racing heritage and flow port design. If I did not have aircon then I would probably opt for the open fin design. Just my tuppence worth.

Quick question, if I may...
I'm getting a better I/C pretty soon and I'm a bit nervous about fitting it. Not that I don't like a challenge but I do like to know what to expect. Is there a way to fit it without having to drain the A/C or rad? Are there any tight spots? Once the cowl's off it looks as though it might be a kind of slot in/out job... or am I being ridiculously optimistic? I will look in the manual eventually but I know from experience that those with experience often know "better" ways of doing these things ![]() Cheers Matt Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

Piece of cake!
Remove fan cowling and grill. Loosen 2 bolts on bottom of AC radiator housing. Remove only the right sided 2 "bolts"/pins for the bonnet catch plate on the radiator side of fender by using a vice grip. (they are just threaded pins with a welded nut inside the fender, you will destroy these 2 bolts/pins so make sure you have 2 spare bolts to replace these! I used normal bolts for future ease) Loosen 2 I C pipes and bolts. Pull old I C. Trim 2 plastic edges on the lower edges of the radiator slightly.(I just used a hacksaw blade). Pop new I C in and secure bolts and pipes Enjoy the new car! Took me all of 2 hours and 2 cold beers! No need to drain anything! It may sound confusing but once you get going you will understand my directions. Last edited by Regard on 10th Nov 2012 8:08am. Edited 2 times in total |

I found an easier way of removing them......too late for you Regard but may help others.....
Basically place two bolts onto them, tighten the bolts so that they are compressed against each other, then use a rachet to remove........ takes a 10th of the time and far less swearing.... (hope it makes sense) |

This sounds like a perfect subject for a DIY instruction with pictures. If someone doing this operation could
document it, I am sure it would be appriciated. |
