headlamp leveling is not working
Hello,

the headlamp leveling on my 2008 110 stopped working. i tested one of the headlamp actuator it seems to react to power,
also there is some power at the connector behind the actuator. So i suspect the problem comes from the multi-position switch.
how can i troubleshoot it?

regards

hello,

thanks a lot for the document, with the reference on yours i managed to find it online in a better quality.
I have to admit i understand the schematic but i would need to know voltage, ohm, or amps I'm supposed to find along the circuit.
i understand the multi position switch works by modifying the circuit resistance. how can i check the switch is functioning properly.

Best regards

Ultimately check you have the following earths: (best to disconnect to prevent parallel paths):

There should be no resistance = 0 ohms.

On the headlight levelling switch (S109) contact 3
Left hand headlamp levelling motor (M130) contact 2
Right hand headlamp levelling motor (M129 contact 2

If they're ok reconnect everything.

Get someone to operate the levelling switch, with ignition and lights on, whilst this is happening you should have 12 volts DC at the following points S109 contact 2, M130 and M129 contact 1.

Should give you an indication what is/is not happening. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

sorry to highjack. My levelling.... one the left light work and not the right? ie, when I switch up and down the left light goes accordingly, but the right one is stuck in position 1 relative to left light. Which part or cable should I check first?

Follow the link below or the link posted by fr3dg1 in his last post and you will have access to loads of information including wiring diagrams, then follow my instructions in my previous post. The wiring diagrams can be found in the Workshop icon.
