turning off TC - PUMA specific
did anyone get a definite on this?

there was a post a while ago about it, and i know i posted on it ref the brake pedal 10 times in 10s etc etc, but that seems to be TD5 only

can you just remove the fuse and live with it and no ABS? or does that create other faults.

bloody TC got me stuck yesterday!! needed the power for a climb didnt want TC taking it all. Cheers

I probably posted that. Even in a Td5 the TC would be switched on again as it switches on automatically above 7 km/hr I believe.
Not knowing the exact situation when you got stuck, but I don't think you got stuck because off the TC. I honestly think if you didn't have TC you would even come that far up the hill you came now.
The only solution is fitting lockers. Locker work directely preventing wheelspin, not fighting wheelspin like the TC does. And it doesn't consume power.
I think you can pull a fuse but I am not 100% sure you won't get faults showing up.
If pulling a fuse works you could make a switch, switching TC and ABS if you don't want it and switching it on again when you want it like on the road or if you go down a hill.

But coming back to what I wrote earlier I don't think switching TC off will help you off-road. Roel

Roel, not to disagree with you but being an off road driving instructor and making a living from it believe me it was the TC that stopped me getting up the hill. i dont want to get into the pros and cons of TC i am well aware of them i just want to know how to turn it off. Cheers

Jst,

Like I said I don't know the actual situation but I am still confinced that say in 99% of the 100% TC will help you.
I have been a LRDE instructor but not anymore as working in the oilfield pays a lot more money. Roel

If it's as simple as pulling a fuse, does that mean we could put an interrupt in line and have switchable TC?

That might be quite fun (although my off-road skills are not sufficiently good for me to ever turn it off, I suspect). Thumbs Up One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS

Pulling the fuse out off road is a possibility, but just as a warning about putting a switch in- TC to an insurance company is a 'safety feature' and making it switchable might make it invalid.

I can vouch for JST getting stuck. Even my D3 couldn't pull him up the hill Shocked . Nor could the challenge truck that I was in all day. We ended up using the D3 as an anchor and winching him up.
Surprising how fast little dips can appear under your wheels when try to pull a 110 uphill Shocked 110 D250 SE HT

When we blew the front diff in Morocco we had to pull the TC fuse then the ABS started playing up so we removed that fuse as well. Or was it the other way round. Cant remember now is was a few years ago.

Did it work? Putting the fuses in, is the only thing to do ?
