Flexi Radio Aerial.
Would this (link below) be an easy DIY fit or would it require a specialist?

Not sure the link works. Products. Entertainment. Aerial.

It works if you click the little 'GB' symbol, top right.

Can't see fitting being that difficult. Routing the cable through the bulkhead to the dash is likely the trickiest part. Darren

Flex aerial is 350mm long and flying connection lead is 1300mm long.

Since we have a bent telescopic aerial have a couple on order so hopefully will be able to answer some of these questions more fully from a practical point of view.

However having experience the Entreq quality standard I am sure it will be top quality.

Not sure where the cable runs from under the wing or even if it is easily accessible, but i would have thought it wouldn't be that hard to cut the existing cable and create a waterproof joint underneath the aerial mount (if there is not one there already).

Seems a bit OTT to have to run the cable all the way back to the rear of the head unit.

Can you also unscrew the antenna from the base plate?

I'm hoping so too.
My plan if not is to pull a piece of garden wire through when I remove the telescopic one and use the wire to pull the new cable through again.
Sounds good in principle. Big Cry

Is there nobody looking into providing a kit to fit the aerial on a side glass panel ala the rest of the LR range?

To be honest, looking closely at the Defender range for the first time recently, the 1970s telescopic aerial struck a really discordant note - even my gf commented "Really!" when she saw it...it really does not speak for quality.

It would be easy to cover up the hole with a chequerplate kit and indeed the kits I have seen fitted around the hole are nearly all never square which draws your eye in again but for all the wrong reasons. Much better to get rid of it altogether.

My alternative plan was to either fit it inside the canopy of my DCPU or even try and turn the hoops themselves into the biggest aerial possible...the latter may just be wishful thinking... Very Happy

I originally thought the motor was broken in mine. Rolling Eyes
My problem is that I always forget to extend it until I'm driving.

Good fitting advice above although the Blauplunkt one doesn't have Entreq engraved on it's base. Cool

Agree! But how much for a name are you willing to pay? I just paid an extra £85 for Entreq to be written on my snow cover when another brand could have sufficed! Entreq are 'synonamous' with top quality though!
