Put some araldite in the screws as well to keep someone from nicking it when I'm not around (based on prior experience of someone helping themselves to bolt-on accessories).

There is no easy simple ways of preventing theft of bolt on equipment or of complete vehicles. Whatever security methods you decide on please consider how your security means may impinge on you wanting to adjust/remove/repair your vehicle.

There are many security fixings around, some 'permanent or one way' such as clutch screws, sentinel etc or reuseable ones, pin hex, 2 pin, 4 pin, 6 lobe, pin torx etc. OK if Mr Scumbag turns up properly tooled up they can still nick your belongings but at least it will slow down/deter the opportunist thief.

Ditto mine arrived today 24 hrs after ordering from Mud.

Looks like it will be straight forward fit and will do the job before leaving on the trip 2007 TD5 90 Hard Top

Me too, it was rather close to the wing without it.

What holds the gasket in place or stops it moving out of place ?

Keeps general rubbish out which would otherwise eventually block the drain, which in turn causes it to leak inside when it rains. Darren

I'm guessing that water ingress will also play havoc with rust in the heater internals over time, so fitting one early on and leaving it there all year will have a positive preventative effect (or may just be a case of man maths again!).

When you have removed the old vent on the top, get your arm inside the heater intake and check for leaves etc. Also, there is a small rubber vent hole in the bottom corner by the heater mating to allow for drainage which can easily block up with silt and mud deposits so get your little pinkie in there and make sure water can run out freely, otherwise your heater will expire from rust a lot sooner. 2016 D4 HSE
