If the Defender suits you in all other ways...keep it! Assuming it's swreet?

I love Defenders, and I really loved that one, but it needs a lot of work to get it sorted and I would really love a new Defender.
However, the MPG being what it is means it's not wholly practical to run as my daily ride. |

Restore it! Definately! It may be a lot of hard work, but it'll be worth it. You get a sense of achievement at the end of a restoration project that you just don't get from buying a new car
I've just restored mine : http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic15201.html and now I know that everything's right and proper An engine to TDi for! "Land Rover- Proudly turning drivers into mechanics since 1948" |

Wow, that's a really nice restoration!
That is the avenue I'd want to go down. Galv chassis and bulkhead. The chassis is probably beyond saving so Galv chassis is the way forward. It suffered from the really bad 90 onward Chassis that seemed to rust loads. The 200Tdi engine and running gear is fine, and I'm sure I could get it sprayed up cheap. Where's the best galv chassis place (or maybe the cheapest?) Thanks |

Well I got mine from Richard Chassis, but I'm sure there are plenty of other (cheaper) places to get them from An engine to TDi for!

Hi thanks for that. I've just been looking at Richards' website as they are really close by and I could collect it.
I'm definetley enthusiastic about it. Did you just clean your engine up? |

Mine is my daily drive and so I didn't have the time or space to do it myself, so I had to pay someone to do it for me.
I ordered a galv bulkhead from Ashtree LR (pre-sprayed to Bonatti grey) and ordered a galv chassis from Richards. Then I took my 110 to Paul Marsden who has the workshop next door to Richards and let him do it all for me. He did a great job and I had my 110 back just short of 2 weeks later. |
