I'm not releasing all the figures - but the new ST1 calibration makes a genuine 59Nm at the wheels over the standard LR Calibration.

What does the standard calibration give at the wheels, Ian? Darren

Hi Ian,

Nice work, looking forward to the final tune Thumbs Up

Do you have the graph with figs on i.e. revs, bhp and torque along the top and up the sides, as it would be interesting to see what the figs are for the std vehicle, see if its anywhere near what LR quote - 122bhp and 360Nm of torque Whistle Whistle Whistle Gas, Grass Or Ass - Nobody Rides For Free

"UNDERSTEER" ----is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"OVERSTEER" ------is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"HORSEPOWER" ----is how fast you hit the fence.
"TORQUE" -----------is how far you take the fence with you.

Taken off LR website and I quote

"Defender’s new 2.2 litre Diesel engine produces an impressive 360Nm of torque. With 90 percent of peak power constantly on tap from as low as 2,200rpm to over 4,350rpm, it provides maximum muscle for tough working environments."

Trying to find the bhp out now Thumbs Up Gas, Grass Or Ass - Nobody Rides For Free

Thanks for clearing that up Jeremy.

According to an app on my iphone that means 90Nm = 120.692hp (I think that is the same as bhp) so I was nearly correct Thumbs Up Gas, Grass Or Ass - Nobody Rides For Free

Yes, Land Rover claim 120bhp and 360Nm, however this will be done under test conditions and on an engine dyno - so not in vehicle.

What did I find with a standard 2.2... at wheels:
(so actual power transmitted to the road after all transmissions losses - which are typically 25% on a 4WD vehicle).

Standard 2.2 Defender made 95 bhp at the wheels, and 180lbft (244Nm) in 4th gear - bearing in mind each gear has different mapping, different torque limits etc.

More work going on today!!

Fingers crossed we can finish the new calibration prior to field trials and do the final tests on speed limiter removal.

Very Happy

We spent some more time on the dyno yesterday....

See below power curve.

The top curves are torque, the lower curves are power.

Engine calibration and Air Path differences...

The Transit on makes 385Nm - we are getting more than that Wink

The Power Generator in a diesl engine is Air not fuel. The issue with Diesels is not how much fuel you can inject, but how well the engine can breath throughout it Rev-Range.

Once we move onto stage 2 (which involves minor component/install changes), we will be making quite a bit more!

If you have a 2.2 you can.... although, after yesterdays development time, the torque curve will be moving in the right direction!

Pm's replied to...

All being well, the specification STG1 Calibration will be done finalised this weekend....

So not long before it will be available to the general public.

This is not something I'm rushing - it needs to be 110% before it goes on sale.
