I fitted a set of led headlights to my 130
I find fitting expensive accessories are best done when SHMBO is out If she does notice i find it's best to say they were on there when we bought it 993 Varioram - Guards Red Defender 2.5 300TDI 110 HCP - Keswick Green Defender 2.2 TDCI 130 HCP - Orkney Grey - GONE Discovery 4 SDV6 HSE LUX - Corris Grey/Black Pack - GONE Discovery 4 SDV6 HSE LUX - Montaciano Red/Black Pack - GONE |

I did a direct comparission the other night between the LED headlights (on grafty99s truck) and my IPF upgraded Headlights - not standard lights.
The light was whiter/clearer - as you would expect - from the LEDs On Dipped beam there was an improvement in clarity and spread but not distance, from the LEDs - ie they would help a little when driving country lanes. On full beam my IPF gave a greater distance and spread compared to the LEDs Of the two the IPFs needed a new loom to take the 80/110W bulbs so would be harder to fit, but they are cheaper (depending on how many bulbs you need to replace at £35 each) With no auxillary driving lights I would prefer the IPFs, with the LEDs extra driving lights would be an advantage, and grafty99 has extra driving lights. Compared to standard Landy lights the LEDs would be a huge improvement, as was the improvement when I upgraded to the IPFs. We tested the lights in torrential rain - when my Amber Duallys were turned on we noticed that there was no reflection off the falling rain - unlike the other lights that lit up the drops - this is why the ambers are good in fog/ falling snow. I also put on the D2s (currently on the quad bike) and they out shon everything - made a huge difference - turned darkness in to daylight - and they will be going on the 90 as soon as all the cows have calved. For driving the country lanes the D2s will be a big advantage, lighting up the hedges, potholes, cows etc. |
