United Kingdom 2009 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 XS CSW Stornoway Grey
I had squeaks from the seat, the clutch pedal and even the clutch mechanism/cylinder just on the other side of the bulkhead. The first two were quieted with silicon grease, the latter replaced under warranty by LR.

However, the most annoying squeak took months to find. It appeared to be coming from the dash, and depending on where you sat, from either side.

Turns out that it was actually one of the second row seat hinges squeaking. My wife discovered it while riding back there with the baby. Due to the acoustics of the interior, the sound appeared to be eminating from the front.

I've been on the hunt for the next annoying rattle for weeks and tracked it down to this (see pic) that was lying loose in the battery box. Anyone know what it is? Presumably a battery retaining bracket that is not needed in mine, my battery is well secured by two clamps at the base of the battery.

Hi Darren, Bow down
Really, is that something that comes as standard? As its got somes holes drilled in it I presumed it was some sort of retaining bracket. Been annoying me for ages! 90 XS

I had a very similar problem, nothing in the rain or when damp, really loud when dry and it sounded like it was coming from the dash area. It was worse on bumpy roads etc... A buddy of mine finally rolled the window down and held the hood while I was driving.... Like magic the noise stopped! It turned out I just needed to lubricate the hook and hinge that holds the hinge on. It took me like 4 fing months to stop that damn noise. Hope this helps you,

Hi Tjhappel
Just noticed you have a 2010 Puma. Given the American laws on airbags how did you manage to get one over there ? I didn't think it was possible to import anything newer than 1994 (I think its that year) ?
