Decisions Decisions Help, LR people - need advise. Arrival in the spring of 3rd child means my 2001 TD5 110 Double Cab might have to go - even with the extras I have fitted, it might just be too much of a squeeze. It has about 45k on the clock, and was originally a van body, replaced with a Double Cab body in 2005 - I have had it for 2 years. In that time I have done: Heavy duty wheel carrier (the one that a member on here did for a while) Wendy house off, Exmoor trim cover fitted Rear seat replaced with Exmoor trim high back in outlast cover M&M grey seat covers for front EGR removed & blanked Upgraded headlights All lenses replaced with LED style Full strip back & stoneguard treatment to chassis Absolutely no rust whatsoever - just had it ALL done for winter (usual suspects - few rivets etc) Noisekiller in front cab & engine blanket 7" pop out touchscreen sat nav / cd / radio / SD card system with removable front Ceiling mounted 8" DVD screen with wireless headphone & remote - hard wired to switch to allow ignition off viewing Entreq door strips (rear fitted, front still to do) Entreq rear mudflaps hangar mod (still got all the bits I took off / out) So - what to do? Sell as is privately? Strip off all the extras - sell the basic & the extras separately? Trade it against either a 110 CSW XS (bonus of 7 seats / extra space) or a FFRR TDV8 3.6 about 5-6 year old (wee bit of luxury but still only 5 seats, but huge storage)?? This is my first LR and I love it - really do. But practicalities sometimes mean that hard decisions have to be made. I'll also have to sell my Audi A4 1.8T Convertible 54 plate as it has only 4 seat belts - so will be looking to roll 2 vehicles into 1, so to speak. If you're considering a 110 SW as a replacement, why not just convert your DC instead? It would be a fraction of the cost and you'd keep a known vehicle that's already personalised to your taste. You could even fit later Puma rears if you really needed the extra seating. The basic conversion should literally just be a case of buying the panels - roof, sides, rear door - and bolting them on in place of your existing roof and tailgate. There will be other details such as interior trim and electrics for the rear door and probably getting everything painted to match, too. Fitting the forward facing rear seats is more of challenge. We had a 110 200 tdi pick up converted into a station wagon in 1996. Retired her last year after 15 years service as the family car.If your base vehicle is sound this is a good option. Still in sound condition and runs like a dream but the Puma took over. Sitting as an ornament in the garden at the moment! Go and test drive a TDV8 if you haven't already and that will make your mind up, and your family will love you for it. Mine is turning 5yrs old next month, has done 84,000 miles and still drives and looks as fresh as it did when it was new. Oh, and to the OP - I agree with the SW conversion idea. If you don't have the time or the spanners, any of the indie specialists would do it for you with 2nd hand panels and trim it out. Even using the eyewateringly expensive Exmoor rear forward facing seats matching your existing trim, it should still be a cost effective option. There would also be a decent market for your dc roof and panels as many people want to go the opposite way, which would offset some of the cost. Fully Restored 89 110 CSW V8 CLS 350 CDI for the sensible stuff

I am sure there is pleanty of talk about soft cushions and sweet smelling climate control there along with manicures and doing make up in the lighted vanity mirror. You'll not get back the cost of the vehicle and accessories whether sold seperately or together. Thus a conversion will mean you don't loose out flogging all the bits off it - bar the 'stuff' for making it a DCPU which you can sell on as previously suggested. Go on - DO IT!!
