After 4 years and 7 months and more than 140,000 km, The start is going to be more dificult.
Before start inmediately and now took a little bit more. So, I need to replace the battery. Any idea of the requirements? Amp per hour? Max size? Thanks in advance Eduardo MY 2007 110 SW PUMA 2.4: Big Fog of 64' MY 1994 Jayco 1207 Folding camper: "El Tremendo" Click image to enlarge |

FYI original is a bosch s5 or varta silverline, both being identical and made by varta / rebranded for Bosch

I agree with blackwolf and Grockle.
OEM ones work out cheaper in the long run. |

All the original batteries I have come across (in both Disco 2 and Defender post about 2000) have been Delphi Freedom, 12V 110Ah, CCA 800A, Delphi part number # 19001340, LR part number YGD100860. In Dec 2011 the list price was £136.95 plus vat. Personally I would (and did) go for a Delphi in preference to a Varta or Bosch, but that is of course a personal preference based on the fact that my Delphi has outperformed any Varta, Bosch, or Exide batteries I have ever owned (I have heard of Exide being fitted as OE as well). I believe that the Delphi is a lead-calcium battery (not sure about the others). You might want to take a look at http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic9463.html where this question has been discussed before. |

I learn't a lot from a work colleague a few years ago who used to work in an Exide battery factory. There are different 'levels' of batteries which is decided after manufacture.
The best ones are used by themselves and given a (on average) 10 year warranty (They put their name on them). The ones that don't meet the highest standard then get put into more categories. Theses are then branded as per manufactures with about a 2-5 year warranty and then the ones that are complete cr@p are put in a unbranded pile- theses are sold off in bulk to complete mugs without a warranty...... e.g. the MOD. To that end- Always buy batteries from the manufacturer it is the way to ensure you get the best product- If it then brakes before the 10 year warranty, you get a new one (with another 10 year warranty)- bonus Glyn |

Thanks to all!
Finally I got the Bosch S5 90Ah with a CCA of 1100. Quite similar to the Varta installed. Only difference were the CCA (900 in the Varta) So, we will se how much last Cheers Eduardo MY 2007 110 SW PUMA 2.4: Big Fog of 64' MY 1994 Jayco 1207 Folding camper: "El Tremendo" Click image to enlarge |
