What happens when you have a trailer on? I cant open the door fully with my ifor on because of the jockey wheel, so does it not push your door into that and mark the paint??

Pete.

Simple solution to that is to hold it Thumbs Up the pro's far out weigh the cons imo though

Not very easy to put straps and sheets in one handed though! lol. I must have a different one to everybody else as the original stay keeps my door open for me lol.

Pete.

They get loose I think that's the main reason but all the same they're not much different to the doors either I don't think all don't hold hardly at all.

I think if there was a vote for the top 10 Defender modifications, the gas strut would come in at number 1 Wink

p.s. Steve - almost convinced the missus to fit the Kenwood in the Beetle Thumbs Up Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing...

Don't need to waste that sort of money when you can just pull out the storage drawer a bit a jam the door open with that! (duh - forgot that was £600 Mr. Green ) - but well worth it as it keeps all my crap and never used items out of the way so mrsH doesn't 'tidy them away'

Some interesting alternatives shown on this thread Thumbs Up

Well you might have saved a few quid if you had bought the rear door stay off a forum sponsor Razz

Save on postage if preorder and collect from the Peterborough LR show Thumbs Up

I was going to buy mine from you Brendan for that very reason earlier on this year but at the time I couldn't get a reply so went direct to Naka. Maybe you were busy preparing for a show or something. Thumbs Up $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

Definitely a worthwhile and simple mod - the instruction sheet Brendan provides is very clear and his service is second to none! The only thing missing from the fitting kit are a couple of longer screws which are required really to replace the original ones used for the mounting bracket at the car end (spacers are provided in the kit to give the piston rod some clearance). Best to get a couple of M8x30 screws in advance, then it's all plain sailing! When marking for the holes in the door I found it best to have the door just pulled slightly in from 90 degrees, then the spare can't catch on the body.

Cheers! Thumbs Up
