Just bought a 2.2 110CSW to replace my 2.4
First post here, so hi to everyone. Long time LR owner and rather active on another 'all marques' forum but glad to have found this one.

Got my brand new 110 CSW XS on Monday and been busy blinging it up but I've noticed a few things that someone here may be able to help me with, specifically the turning circle which is hugely worse than the 2.4 which was not exactly nimble - what has been changed.

The other question relates to the gearstick - I've fitted a nakatanenga under cubby security box bought from 4x4overlander (thanks Brendan) but it ruin access to the gearshift. which do you reckon is easier, extend the gearstick or cut down the box. Cutting down and re-welding the box is an pleasant evening in the garage but cutting up a brand new £200 accessory may be a little excessive if tehre is an alternative to try.

Other than that the car is a peach and I really like the new engine .... cant wait until it can be tuned!

hi richard,
can you mount the cubby box further back on the security box so that the raked front of the cubby box gives better access to the gear stick?

As yo can see from this pic, the box is extremely well designed but it is just far too hight even though I have mud stuff seat rails as well. TBH the box gets in the way of steering and although I need the security box for carrying funky drugs and stuff it does not need to so big that a family of Albanians could live there.

I thought they were meant to mount set into the floor ? They must have thought of the problem you have, I'm sure Bren will be along shortly to explain Thumbs Up

shouldn't you take the timber rails off the cubby box before fitting it to the security box?

front runner do a security box half that depth but with no electrical plug in points. Send a pm to Greeni on this site as i believe he deals with front runner

Richard

Had the same problem when fitting an MSS cubby box.

I drilled the box to move the mount holes forward in the box a couple of inches - had the effect of moving the box back. The box does overhang the rear footwell a bit but does not cause an issue. At least I can use all the gears now and the l/h range lever !

Could you relocate the holes in the under cubby box in a similar way ?

Perhaps they are not designed to have a cubby box on top then ?

I thought about that but then the cubby box top isn't level. The frontrunner one doesn't have the electric points which was the starting point!

Which problem? The height issue is a purely subjective one (ie it is too tall for my needs) and I'm going to look at adjusting it. It's not a product quality issue. Rolling Eyes

Ahhh, sorry, I presumed the problem was one of design - it's too tall ?

for my taste and use, yes.

My plan is to remove the lid and hinge assembly (6 bolts) cut off the top half, bend in the sides to re-create the box and then weld back the the lock catch plate and repaint.

A pleasant evening's dicking around with metal, grinders and my TIG welder but I've got my demountable towbar, front spots rear bumperettes to fit first
