No, it is the number of hours labour Landrover will pay the dealer for doing the work under warranty, and is generally less than the number of hours the job actually takes, and also generally less than the times listed in the official Repair Times Manual.

...which is why my piggin' dealer would rather try and sell me an Evoque than fix my new Defender Evil or Very Mad Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing...

I have the same problem - clunks and rattle while clutch out in neutral.

Still under warrantee, but its been tuned... any thoughts on how I should handle this? Don't want to have warrantee declined etc

Tuned with a remap? Re-flash the original map before taking it to the stealer, that's what I do Thumbs Up --

Prob is that I don't have the original map or any of the kit... don't have any of the kit either. Anyone in London or home counties that can help me out and save my map, flash the original (or current version) and then reload???

Who did you get the map from? They should have the original for you. John

Resolving issues with Puma Clutch, flywheel...
G'day fellas. Over the weekend I was driving my 2007 Defender 110, when suddenly I couldn't select second gear. I pulled over to the side of the road and tried selecting first, then reverse. Nothing. Then wild rattle started to surge from what sounded like the gearbox. Soon after something grabbed when I again tried to engage the gears. I had to kill the engine to stop it. After finally shifting into low range and then high again, I managed to drive my truck home, however, the rattle remains.

I've since been reading the threads on various forums, including those here, detailing known issues with the PUma clutch. Despite my foraging, I still haven't located any advice around solutions for the problems. I've since taken my truck the the Land Rover specialists who service it. They have indicated they will need to remove the box to make a proper inspection and diagnosis but suspect it could be the flywheel. Early indication of cost if this is the problem are around AUD$3000.

Does this sound about right to anyone who may have had a similar problem? And, is this something that you might be able to DIY fix with the right parts and workshop manual?

Appreciate any advice anyone has...

Jethro

The solution is to replace the clutch with the newer version that's been modified to resolve this problem. There is lots of discussion about it on this forum, including pictures of the two types somewhere. Have a search Thumbs Up Darren

FYI

One of our very relaible Indies, and I quote:

"just a heads up for the Puma owners
the clutch plate design is unfortunately "flawed" and the same reliability you would expect from any of the other LR clutch plates.
you are unlikely to get the same life and reliabiliy from the OE clutch in the Puma.
did extensive research in conjunction with Valeo and found the ultimate clutch (not the pressure plate!) from a Mazda TD to be a perfect match (would make sense as the Puma is essentially Ford based)
have done 2 so far and the customers are extremely satisfied."

Mmmm.............Mazda clutch is apparently an exact matc, just better???

Just had the clutch changed on mine, it had the same symptoms as yours, I originally thought it was the release bearing. When they took it apart the springs had broken up on the friction plate, truck is 12 mths old with 9000m. I had only had it a week! Crying or Very sad Darren

Yes thankfully. Had only had it 1wk and purchased from a stealer too! Good servic from the dealer though who did the work (it wasn't the same as I purchased it from) and they did a load more work they found too. They did say its the first of that type of failure they'd seen on the new style clutches. Darren
