Nothing as crude as that Tapped the first set in and realised that the bolt would not easily slide in. A quick word with Jason two doors down (he makes moulds for the plastic industry) out come a 6 mm reamer. Tried slowly inserting both of the second set after reaming them out and realised the flat was kicking the inserts over. Into a milling machine and the flat lowered to the inner diameter of the insert bearing. Outcome the first set and there flat was lowered. The fit was then straight forward. Under the original hinge they are not painted, just grey undercoat. This can be seen from certain angles. Dependent on colour off the vehicle and personality off the driver, it might be time just to paint the hinge recess. My feeling is that some people will have experienced difficulties fitting them due to variations in the hinge curl. We will be feeding feedback to Marcus who makes the hinges. Please give feedback either to Matt Ze Defender or ourselves and we will feed it back to Marcus Brendan |

The black 110 now has its Entreq light guards fitted.
Click image to enlarge Not only looks good but since stainless security fittings are used will provide some protection of theft of the Speaker LED headlights Brendan Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated |

On way down to the Peterborough Land Rover Show in our 96 plate 300 TDi towing caravan down the A1M hit very slow moving traffic. Just after slow moving traffic ended noticed that the temperature was about 5C higher then normal. OK speed up to 60 mph and air flow through radiator should cool the engine.
Temp rose to 96C so thought lets coast into nearby service station. Oooops temp shot up to 122C and a stop on the hard shoulder was called for. Quick call to RAC and since on motorway a priority so patrol should be with us within 30 minutes. 35 minutes later man turns up in 35 minutes, without lifting bonnet we need recovering. We are no longer a priority and 2 hours later recovery truck turns up and gets us into Peterborough showground.at 11.30pm. Saturday morning and a phone call to DaveW gets a overhead gasket on its way to us. Sunday DaveW and Alastair (mod on another forum) replaced gaskets. Coolant was still slightly presssurising however. Sunday night after packing up noticed a coach screw in a tyre. Sp wheel change required on Monday morning before setting off home. Fifteen miles away from showground decided not to risk travelling any further. So a call to Highways Agency to call RAC via their emergency phone. Two and a quarter hours later RAC man turns up. This one lifted bonnet and said you need recovering. Shock horror! Later on recovery company phones us up and wagon will be with us within an hour. Remind them we have a caravan and make sure driver has right licence. Five hours after first call recovery wagon turns up! Now the 300 TDi is in tender hands of Matt at MKS Classic and Sports in Leeds. New hoses, rad flushed and checked, head shim and new gaskets Must admit the Highway Agency were . Phoning up to check on us and chasing up RAC and recovery company. Brendan |

So am I Greeni.
Have owned the red 110 for 15 of its 16 years It has been a great work horse, daily drive and a super overland vehicle. Of its 200+k miles it has done about 120k miles overseas. At the last count it had taken me through some 28 countries mainly as a solo vehicle. As far north as Nord Kapp in Norway and as far south as Melbourne Australia OK it is not exactly in concourse condition but I do have a soft spot for it. Have no plans to retire it yet as it still have a lot of miles to do. Brendan Last edited by leeds on 15th Sep 2012 6:03pm. Edited 1 time in total |
