2 cents:
stock to stock same specs tires etc: driving style with TC adaptation not completed, allow time to get used to the TC (i'm not the prophet telling you how to drive best with TC, as it is very dependent on the terrain) mod: pull out the TC fuse and compare again, should be the same, there is no reason why it should be different.(evt fab up an inline switch so you can disable it on the fly/as you wish) TC helps in a majority of cases, in some not. but overall it should be an improvement over non-TC if driven correctly. If your 2011 has stabi bars front and rearwe are comparing apples and oranges. These will limit offroad performance (articulation is the word) drastically. mod: remove them if you dont care about decreased on-road behavior or put in ATB's or evt full lockers to compensate for it while retaining on-road manners give it a chance, i would not go back to non TC an opinion only |

What is the difference between both of them spec wise?
My 2011 110 is just as good as my 2007 110 was. The Defender is very capable 'straight out of the box' so I'm surprised to hear your problems. John http://www.hampshire4x4response.co.uk 2011 Tdci 110 CSW XS |

I find this odd. My 2010 90 would be the same spec as your 2009, and on every single Cape LR Club outing, performance of mine is no different to the newer models. Were the following identical? 1. Trail 2. Weather 3. Tyre pressure Also, did you confirm that your CDL is working? -- 2010 Defender Puma 90 + BAS remap + Alive IC + Slickshift + Ashcroft ATB rear 2015 Range Rover Sport V8 Supercharged Defender Puma Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zZ1en9 Discovery 4 Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zXrtKO Range Rover/Sport L320/L322/L494 Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zc58JQ |

Exactly. A case of blowing hot and cold at the same time. You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation. http://youtu.be/yVRlSsJwD0o https://youtu.be/vmPr3oTHndg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GtzTT9Pdl0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABqKPz28e6A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLZ49Jce_n0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvAsz_ilQYU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8tMHiX9lSw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dxwjPuHIV7I https://vimeo.com/201482507 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSixqL0iyHw |

That was posted in 2010 which, I'd guess, was prior to replacing it with a 2011 Defender ? As for the OP I suspect that it's just a matter of adapting to the new TC software. The increase in speed before it cuts in is probably a reaction to customers removing the fuse to stop the TC bogging them down. There's nothing else different in the drive train between the two. Maybe try being a bit more aggressive with the throttle when you want the traction control to kick in. |

Well as I said I have 2 defenders. the first is a 2009 defender 90, which is still an incredible machine I have never driven anything like it, the other is my 2011 defender 90 for the lady.
We took both landies out to meogatle this weekend and on the rough sections , axle twister, the 09 sails through and the 11 gets stuck and just bounces around. I have extensive experience in driving these traction control equipped landies and as I say my 09 is an absolute pleasure. I also had a disco with traction control which was a pleasure too!! The 11 went to land rover and they reported back to me that early in 2011 the traction control system changed from Wabco to Bosch and according to land rover the Bosch system does not kick in under 10 Kms per hour.. On these axle twisters you barely do 1km/hour???? I can't believe that they have made the car worse, which is exactly what Landy is telling me??? Are You guys battling on seriously rough terrain with the Bosch systems??? I love landies I just hate being overtaken by lcs off road |

Sorry the terrain was loose gravel, axle twisters on inclines. I drove the 09 through the obstacle... No problem, I then got into the 11 and couldn't make it???

Hi Andrea
Still learning about this stuff so forgive me if this is a stupid question: Loads of people seem to want to turn their TC off for off-roading but do I understand that your problem is that the new Bosch system does not turn it on at low enough speeds? Do you know at what speed the Wabco system cuts in? Might it be possible for the dealer to tweak the software of the Bosch unit? Matt Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... Last edited by ZeDefender on 9th Jul 2012 7:01pm. Edited 1 time in total |

i'll repeat myself, what about the sway bars / stabi bars? both your defenders have them?
makes a huge difference, as you know I used to drive without them on older defenders and i really see the limitations they bring on the current 110. You'll be surprised how drastic these bars are limiting articulation and thus offroad capabilities. as you say you are driving below 10km/h so which system you have should not make a difference, unless you have wheelspin which is higher than 10km/h, but i understand from your writing thats not the case? would be nice for others too know what causes your problem is, so dont take it all too personal. I am driving things as you describe and worse. One of the reasons i went for ATB diffs is the influence of the sway bars offroad (which i dont want to take off as i prefer the road handling esp when towing). The diffs make up for that. |
