Realistic fuel tank capacity
Ignoring all the official figures, can anyone give me a decent estimate how much fuel there really is between the nozzle going "click" when filling up and the tank being bone dry?

Sorry - forgot to say it's a 110 (I'm not convinced the realistic capacity is what it says in the manual...) Tell someone you love them today because life is short.

Same feeling for my 130.... official handbooks say 76L, but in fact the light flashes after only 60L

Mine bong'ed at 349 Big Cry yesterday on our way home from the show. Stopped 8 miles later and it took 69ltrs. Was the wrost mpg since having the exhaust done (23.5) but it was with rack all our kit, very windy, and I was doing 70 most of the way so really not that bad , plus I was running super market fuel and not BP (that seems to have an effect on how much is used).

Cheers all Smile

So I'm putting 75L into the Scangauge. According to another thread, it should go into limp mode once there is less than 5L in the tank to protect the system. Can anyone confirm this?

I normally end up putting between 62 and 65 litres in when the needle is on/passing the red Russell

So I'm guessing 65 L normal fill up, 70 L if you've gone past the red and gone limp and 75 L once the "safety margin" has evaporated.

Er... which value should I put in Scangauge? Tell someone you love them today because life is short.

I've set up my Scangauge fillup info at 75 ltr...
I usually fill up between 65/70 ltrs. The scangauge error has been inferior to 1 ltr (above or under).

I don't know waht the limp mode is though.... Regards

Found it (and in German too) Very Happy

Page 64 of the manual says at a certain minimum fuel level, the engine goes into "einen verringerten Leistungsmodus" i.e. "pathetic" in order to stop the fuel system pegging out. You can then limp 1.6 Km before it dies entirely.

You have to put at least 4 L diesel in and do some fancy key twisting/brake pedal pushing to get it going again.

I guess the minimum fuel level is a few litres..? Tell someone you love them today because life is short.

I've managed 72.8 l in my 110, light came on at 434m and I did 41m with the light on - no sign of it going into limp mode ad no idea how much further it would have gone - the gauge was well below the bottom line though

Something's wrong. Isn't it usually the blokes that runs cars on fumes? I used to drive our Ka on fumes. And I mean fumes. I did 15 miles on the M11 with it having at least 2mm clear below the black line under the red zone on the dash! I loves that car!

As for the 110, i agree the light usually comes on very early. If i brim it, i can get 60 miles out of it before the needle drops at all. I ask myself does this mean that there's a good few miles left with the needle sitting at the bottom? I dare not test it that way round!
