I did this in my old 90, but that had ply-lined sides. Thick bit of ply rested on the roof lip, some angle brackets to hold it in place, job done. Great for shoes/coats/lighter stuff, especially when overlanding.
If your car has some interior trim you may have to be a bit cleverer about it though... Visible here through a very wide-angle lens, hence it looks like a 110:

I was pondering something similiar and was thinking of the cable management trays such as http://www.unitrunk.co.uk/catalogue/wire-m...pandable=3 and run the trays front / back about the same height as the trim for the side windows and use it for light stuff, such as water proofs, etc. 1999 Defender TD5 110

Mantec do one which is one the flat dog site, appears to fit with the puma moulded sides, colour black as picture above.

Good idea, think a solid shelf maybe better though.
No answer from Flatdog 
roof shelf £150 + VAT cage each I presume, need two £160 +Vat shelf each I presume, need two £99 + Vat Your avin a  even if it was only one each

If you need more pics let me know. We store 4 pillows and the sleeping bag/bedding up there. Does not rattle and solid. Best mod I did 
£150 for the shelf is robbery, sell mine for £150
Those ones with holes or meshed are rubbish, zips from jackets etc just get caught in them, better to go with a solid shelf in my opinion. Tack |

That's more like it Tack, just the job, in fact I like all your mods
Agreed mesh isn't so good, a solid shelve is much better. I have to work around the interior window trim and make some brackets up to fix onto the roof fixing bolts. Is yours a sheet of Ali turned up at the ends, did you need anymore strengthening in the middle, was it about 3MM you used????? 
Also how did you attach the awning rail to your Thule bars (like it  )
Also where did you get the mesh from to make your seat box cages and shelf? Sorry about all the questions  |
