Conversion into DCPU?
At some point in the next 10 years, I will need a DCPU.
Anyone know how difficult it would be to turn a 110SW into a DCPU and how much it might cost?

Cheers

Whistle
I do plan ahead (especially when it comes to getting the last kids out of the house) and it's also something I can look forward to (running out of bizarre projects at the moment). I would indeed like a trailer now but we already have an occasionally used trailer tent taking up all the garage space (I sling stuff on top of it and use it as a trailer sometimes). Mrs ZeD would kill me if I come home with something else Laughing

Seriously though, any ideas on possibilities to convert or price?

Willy - thanks for the offer... but is it LHD? Laughing Tell someone you love them today because life is short.

Essentially you would need:

Roof
Truck cab rear
Tailgate

Optionally you would need a set of sticks and a canvas or some other sort of cover

The only sticking point would be that there is a bulkhead in the tub that would mean either fabricating something to suit or changing the entire tub....

You don't mention if you would do this in new or second hand parts. The hardest bit to get will be the roof, and even secondhand they seem to fetch £400+

You might have to muck about with the rear seat configuration too, as factory dc's are 60/40 split. Possibly not...

Hth a little bit...

Cheaper to sell your Station wagon and buy a DCPU.

What can a DCPU do that a SW can't ? Richard

Either a 90, 110 or 130.

Carry rocks, logs, wet dogs, soil, not leak as bad, not smell as bad, no leaky windows, quieter, handy tailgate to sit on, put a tarp in fill it full of water and have a bath, carry tall things, wash out the back with a hose. Whistle Original Member Pie n Pea Club.

Thanks to all for your information and viewpoints. Will probably have to buy a trailer in the shorter term then, as I'm fairly sure I'll want to keep the SW. What I would really want is something like this NOW (still for sale):

but as I said, Mrs.ZeD would not be amused...

p.s. I know it's not original (easily fixed) but I really, really want it...pleeeease?

This one looks quite nice and fairly untouched just not been photographed as well - not tarted up with zinc spray & chequer plate either Rolling Eyes

Steep price though http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C303408 Truck cabs can be bought for about £50 Free tax and more sought after lights in the middle look too Wink

She's a beauty and surely not too expensive (?) Perhaps I've lived in Bavaria too long - everything's expensive here Rolling Eyes )
