Heard the words "I've got a load of alloys in the back of the workshop, I'll sort you some out (gratis) - do you want the Range Rover ones or something newer looking?"
So I'm going to have some alloys for 'best' (with my bfg AT's) and modulars (with MT tyres - to be sorted) for off roading. Result So the question now is: Which style would look best on a 1989 90? Range Rover (triangular shape) ones or 5 spoke from a disco? Also should I paint or leave ali colour - decisions Like the look of the CSK alloys on a previous post, don't know if there are any of those going begging though. Colour of 90 is light blue with white (ish) roof. I believe they should both fit ok as I have disc brakes all round so shouldn't be a problem. Any suggestions welcome (and pics) I'll have a search as well I promise. Took her for a run up to Bradford and then polished her and a coat of wax on top. Feel better now I've got my cleaning fix!

Nothing today. Yesterday I took in to Lancasters for it's first service and a few bits to be sorted.
They fitted a new drivers door seal as the original kept drooping at the top and swapped the two towing sockets they had fitted for a single 13 pin type socket which I had expected to be be fitted from new as I thought they didn't fit seperate ones any more. Anyway thaey did it all FOC which was nice. Instead of the usual Freebie 2 they gave me a proper loan car for the day - I think the sales guy wants another order Click image to enlarge John http://www.hampshire4x4response.co.uk 2011 Tdci 110 CSW XS |

I was quite impressed Bob, it did seem very quiet compared to mine and went well - I wouldn't have known it was a smaller engine - but it didn't seem to have any more pull even though it was lighter. It only had 3,000 miles on though so it may improve.
Chatting to the service manager when I gave it back he said it is only the engine cover that makes it quieter so I reckon that if the noise was an issue it would be cheaper to fit an engine blanket of the later cover once Dan has sussed out how to do it. The sales guy was keen for me to drive one as he thinks I may upgrade - but there is no chance of that. No real difference apart from the engine noise and mine is perfect enough for now. Maybe an engine tune at some point to smooth it out and give a bit more mid range but no rush. In summary - the 2.2 is very nice but I can't see a case to swop a 2.4 out for a 2.2. Getting all the camping gear, notes, questions and kit ready for the mudrut Nordkapp 2013 presentation this weekend ... should be an interesting w/e with Ian and his team.
Mudrut are putting on a "warts and all" insight into next years Nordkapp run, vehicle prep, what's involved etc... Two customers from this years run will also be there so it will be interesting on their perception of this years trip. Photos to follow |
