Louder after remap?

Simple question (but one my searches didn't catch):

If a remapped Tdci develops significantly more power & torque, wouldn't you expect it to get louder too when you're using the extra?
ALIVE and BAS customers all talk about improvements with smooth acceleration etc. (mine is also much better) but not overall volume.

The engine clatters a bit more at low speeds, but nothing too over the top.

Yes

Mine makes a slightly louder "diesel tambourine" noise when cruising (not in the Biblical sense

) Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing...

Mine became massively quieter once remapped, especially when working it .

Isn't yours that (very nice) TD5 90? Tell someone you love them today because life is short.

Yes mate

One of the advantages of remapping the Td5 is the lower volume.

Any increase in noise levels get 'left behind' much quicker with the increase in torque, speed and bhp. The only way I would hear it would be if the Defender got stolen and driven past me.

Me too I can never hear what it sounds like because I'm always driving it

So the same thing, just depends whether you're talking about common-rail or unit-injected engines
