Need some help and some contacts
Hi Guys

I'm looking for some direct contacts.......I have had enough of this and the letters are going out to land rover the car still has its engine rattle after 18months. the dealership no longer bothers to keep us updated on fixes let alone even returning our calls!! now the car goes in to limp mode at least twice a month. and we have just had enough!!

We called Land rover Australia customer help AGAIN about the issues and the best they can come up with is take it to your dealer and they will fix it Banging Head

I know I'm not alone when it comes land rovers inferior customer service. So I was wondering as I know a couple of you have had direct dealings to get your issues sorted whether you might be able to give me some email address that I can send my letter to where it might actually get read rather than binned.

If anyone can help I would appreciate a PM...

Regards

Hi Joel

I have reservations about trying another dealer purely because....the other closest dealer to us also does not have a good reputation..the biggest demon being that it took nearly 8 hard months to prove to our dealer at great financial cost to us that there was a problem in the first place as they did not believe us....

we were constantly without the car for weeks going backwards and forwards to the dealer. they kept telling us that they couldn't find anything....partly because they never kept the car in the same conditions as we did (despite us asking them to) therefore could never recreate the problem.
Eventually they experienced it...but this may of been because the problem was becoming more prevalent.

We can't afford the time and the money to go through this again. YOU KNOW REHAB IS FOR QUITTERS!!!!

I had the same thing as others will tell you. Keep writing letters (even though I expect like me they do not answer in writing) and keep copys. After 18 months of this i finally wrote to Phil Popham here in the uk and sent every letter I wrote. Five months later I had a new LR! If you a search here you will find my rantings, it does sound much like the problem I had.

mate I think I would be happy with an apology and an extended warranty at this point purely, so I can have some piece of mind that my engine, which every morning briefly sounds like its destroying itself after going 400 meters up the road! will not fall apart they day after the warranty ends. YOU KNOW REHAB IS FOR QUITTERS!!!!

Was the same with mine then after a wwhile it would take off on its own at about 3300revs and the only way to stop it was dump the clutch. caught me out a couple of times i can tell you LOL. they woudl not believe me it did it until one of the dealer managers while driving it nearly ploughed into a rrs.

hey boy Ian (my partner) has just informed me after reading your post to him that this is starting to happen to him but not as bad as yours......he said sometimes when setting off in second if he has to stop in traffic when when he lifts off it continues to accelerate unless he dips the clutch.

This is new to me as he has only just told me this.....but he said it has only just happened and only happened around 3 times YOU KNOW REHAB IS FOR QUITTERS!!!!

mine was worse on cold mornings. The "run on" is normal but some early 07's (like mine) suffered more than most. I used to call it the death rattle! I did have a letter from LR saying they were aware of the problem and that techincal were working on it however they did not know when they would find a solution. It caught me out a couple of times an I nearly rear ended a few people. Some have said this is conected in some way with the PCJ issue but I have never seen any proof of this. It is like fuel is being dumped in to the cylinders all at the same time.

no no we have the normal run on but only had it in 4th when changing gears...what Ian describes is different its not run on its accelerating i.e sounds like its gaining speed not running on maintaining speed.

funny we call ours the machine gun rattle.....the rattle only ever happens in the morning mainly cold mornings but not even cold mornings anymore.
used to be an intermittent problem. now its daily without fail but can vary with its severity YOU KNOW REHAB IS FOR QUITTERS!!!!

Dullbird, please excuse my ignorance, but I didn't know Defender's could end-up in Limp Mode. Are you talking about a Disco or RR?
