South Africa 2009 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 XS CSW Chawton White
The Boy is right, just keep writing to them and following up. I went through the same ordeal. I went to the top of Land Rover South Africa and was told to go back and sort it out with my dealer. Your contract is with the dealership. I approached the situation as follows.

As in all claims where customers are unhappy with a product there are 2 schools of thought. One is to do the minimum because you have probably lost them as a customer & Two is to bend over backwards. (this was my 4th landy from the dealership)

The difference is if they percieve there to be any future business & in your case (and mine) sadly they see you as a lone customer with little abilty to influence others away from buying a Land Rover. (ha ha, little do they know!)

At this stage you need to decide if you need them any more too & if you can live with the current problems and one option you have now is to send all your letters & all previous correspondance to a consumer affairs desk at a local newspaper, car magazines, 4x4 blogs & let them take it for you.

Before you take that route you need to lead them into a small trap to get them to commit things they probably wouldn't want printing. IE. "there is nothing more we can do sir"

In the end LR came back to me with what has to be their most cliched response " we won't replace your vehicle free of charge sir but as a gesture of goodwill we will contribute towards a new purchase and give you full trade value".

In the end I started firing small amounts of my ammunition towards the various media channels and got a brand new replacement. Its hard work and incredibly frustrating but you will bash through their armament in the end.

Keep up the pressure! Land Rover's don't leak oil, they simply mark their territory!

Dullbird, please excuse my ignorance, but I didn't know Defender's could end-up in Limp Mode. Are you talking about a Disco or RR?
Cheers,
Rick.
