Factory fitted tyres?
My 110 XS has Boost Alloys with 265/75 BFG Mud Terrain TA's. They are as you would expect pretty noisy on the tarmac so I'd like to change them for something more suitable. What was the standard tyre size / make fitted to a 2009 110 XS when it left Solihull ? Cheers,
Superspoons

235/85 x16 General Grabber TR's were standard fit to 11MY

The same size Conti Contacts AT. (far better tyre) for 11 MY on California F1, 75th 110 "Kermit", 50th Ann V8, 90 V8 Hybrid, 55 Series 1

I'm fairly certain they are 235/85 Continental All Terrain tyres from the factory. At least they were on my 2011 2.4 110 XS.

I subsequently bought a special edition from a non-LR dealer here in Switzerland and he put 255/85 BFG mud terrains on. Apart from being pretty massive, I also find them rather loud and was thinking of changing to standard all terrain. Trouble is, they do look pretty awesome but obviously this shouldn't be the number 1 priority when choosing a tyre!

June 2009 110 XS DC standard tyres were GG 235*85*16 TR's.

If they are BFG MT KM2's and you want rid of them I may be interested, might also be interested if they are the previous version of the BFG MT (not after AT's though) Thumbs Up

once you've changed your tyres, something else will make noise, the defender will never be as quiet as a Range Rover TD6 Vogue Autobiography Thumbs Up

I know its been said before but BFG AT 235/85 can't be beaten for grip and quietness IMHO. You can generally only hear the sound of the engine and a bit of sloshing on wet roads sometimes. There's none finer ! Thumbs Up

I wouldn't personally go for the earlier grabber tr's which were oem for your model year. The revised grabber all-terrain is a far better tyre in my opinion and have them on our Disco 3 with little road noise. The new Conti's which are the new oem are very similar to the new grabber and look far better. As for tyre noise- if you eliminate that you will only hear something else Laughing

Yep, you should hear my 50th Twisted Evil I know all about noise although that's the V8 up front mainly...

I'm very impressed with it so far though. The difference between my 98 300tdi 110 SW and this is, as you expect, immense. Kids love the back seats Thumbs Up Cheers,

The General Grabber TR which were OEM until a good year ago, are they discontinued by General Tire? In any case cannot find them on their website anymore. Would that be the reason why LR switched to Contis a good year ago or so? You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.
