Most of us on here whether from necessity or desire do some or most of the work that is needed on our motors. I let my mind wander a little this morning(can't let it wander too far as it'll get lost very easily
![]() ![]() Thinking about the tools that I have amassed over the years working as an agricultural fitter, motor mechanic and other jobs I couldn't be without my 16oz ball pien hammer, it has a longer shaft than many even if there is more tape wrapped round the handle than you'd find on 2 rolls of insulation tape( the handle started to split and I've never got round to finding another!) I've got an open ended 1/4"whitworth spanner thet is the true size for proper battery terminal nuts, there are a few 13mm and 10mm combi spanners that have taken over from the AF spanners that still stay in the box but the pride of place over the years that has taken no end of abuse is an open ended 15/16ths x 1" Britool spanner that's actually got me starting this thread. Just been used on the motor checking the tightness of the hitch bolts and brought into the house to tighten up a leaking compression joint on the downstairs toilet! Anyone else going to give us a lead on what tools they couldn't do without whether from sentiment or necessity |

Reminds me, I've got to replace mine, it gave up the other day encouraging the propshaft carrier bearings off a Freelander the other week, still it's served well, I picked it up at a car boot about 30 years ago and it was well used then! Done well for 20p ![]() |
