I would like to know how the scum manage to defeat the immobiliser, then we can work on a solution to stop 'em. I can't see how the ecu will allow the engine to start wihout the key fob. in which case if they are towed away, this clutch lock will not be any use. They seem very expensive at £400. If I get one I shall put it on the brakes. Although if they are towing it, it would be easy for them to snap the break line, if they realise what is going on.
Have not looked under my drivers seat yet for this alarm wire. Is this wire for the alarm only, or does it carry power for other systems? It may be a simple matter to re-route it, or add some protective capping or protect it with a flexible conduit. The old astra alarm was defeated by putting tin foil in the side repeater lamp. It would blow the fuse & silence the alarm! The freelander1 was not much better. the Cobra alarm just plugs into a connector that is already present on the loom. To stop the alarm just un-plug it! Anybody in the trade would know exactly where this connector is. |

It also supplies the ignition and central locking circuits. Land Rover will not guarantee the warranty on the vehicle if myself or a 3rd party re-routes or provide additional protection for the cable / cables, as it would be altering the specification of the vehicle.

re beating immobliser, a friend is a detective here and he said they caught a gang with software from the internet, they plug it in to the bmw/other cars and it creates millions of passwords until they get the engine master Code , they can then alter mileages service records(inside computer at least) , create fobs, they do this and then ship the cars out of the country to indonesia, or easier nick the keys from your house!!
New Zeland customs does not look at exported containers even when the police ask them, they like to target easy targets like tourists bringing in a bit of fruit and fining them, much easier than doing their real job!!! |
