Just noticed some vibration in the door mirror set up on the driver's side. A quick check seems to point to the bolts hidden inside the hinge need tightened. Not a lot of play but some movement if you pull it.
Is it possible to just remove the bolts that hold the door hinge to the door, fold it back, tighten the mirror bolts then refit? Is it necessary to remove the door trim or can the nuts be loosened with it in place. I had a quick trial with a torx head on the door bolts and they are TIGHT. Anyone done this before I go ahead with the above plan of attack. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel 1992 110 200tdi csw -Zikali 2008 110 2.4 tdci csw-Zulu 2011 110 2.4 tdci csw-Masai |

You can get at the hinge nuts without having to take off the door card, just maybe a tweak out in that corner.
Land rover probably never put the little plastic blips in to stop those bolts coming loose, use some loctite 270 or a dab of Sikaflex/wurth bond and seal on the thread when you tighten them back up, this will stop them coming loose again. |

Finally got around to doing this yesterday. A few pointers may be of help to anyone else doing it.
Open the door and undo the door stay by removing the small clevis pin at the bottom of the door pin. Catch the falling washer. Mine fell to the ground and rolled. The watching cat saw it and chased it,caught it and disappeared with it. Push up door pin and remove. You can now open the door wider. Prise out with a flat screw driver the plastic push in trim button in the corner. I put a piece of Duck Tape on the trim to stop the blade making a dent in it. Pull the trim away slightly and insert something like a screwdriver or a spanner to hold it out. Your thumb is not the best item for this, take my word for it. Put a spanner on the nuts on the inside and turn the bolts on the outside, easily done with the window down.Just turn the bolts enough so as you can remove the nuts.Careful not to let nut disappear in to doortrim. Push each bolt back in after you remove each nut and you door will stay in place. Push the mirror arm forward and tighten those bolts. Job done. Ease out one door bolt just enough to fit the nut then tighten it. Then do the other one. Remove screwdriver or spanner ("or black and blue thumb) from behind door card, insert trim button and push door card home. Next find cat playing with washer or if not get a new one. Insert door pin into door stay arm, fit washer then clevis pin. Put away tools, suck sore thumb, and plan how to make the assassination of the afore mentioned cat look like an accident. While you are at it get an 8mm socket or spanner and tighen those door stay nuts and your doors will stay open again. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel 1992 110 200tdi csw -Zikali 2008 110 2.4 tdci csw-Zulu 2011 110 2.4 tdci csw-Masai |
