Just for interest I greased the universals (front and rear) after a trip and then tried the rear sliding one which has a grease nipple, seemed to use a lot of grease and none "popped" out the joint like on my old TD5 etc
grease was definitely going in yet it appeared to be disapearing into thin air!!!. Front one filled up with about 20 strokes of the grease gun Any ideas? Thanks Simon Last edited by sasha2001 on 2nd Aug 2009 1:47am. Edited 1 time in total |

I did mine yesterday and the rear sliding joint seemed to take half a tube of grease. I wouldn't mind but i did it six months ago so it couldn't have been completely empty. 130 crew cab

Similar story on the SVX when I got it I removed the wheels to do the wax oyling to find the o/s/r hub with a generous helping of copper slip on the hub flange and not so much on the o/s/f progressing on to the n/s none whatsoever!!!! makes you wonder if it was break time or shift change in the factory? not good ive since checked the props + all other levels which were o.k but it makes you wonder what else could have been forgot Formerly mao99999 16 Focus RS Nitrous Blue. 11 FFRR TDV8 Vouge SE Black Black. 08 DEFENDER SVX SOFT TOP (SUPERB) 08 DEFENDER 110 DCPU Stornoway grey (Overland Exploration Unit) 05 Fiesta ST 150 Van 04 Jaguar XKR 4.2 Supercharged V8 02 DEFENDER 90 TD5 (next years soft top project) 95 DEFENDER 110 CSW 300 TDi Phoenix black 95 DEFENDER 90 HT Monti Carlo blue COUNTY 300 TDi 67 109" SERIES 2a TUNED 200 TDI 64 DAVID BROWN 990 rat look 55 86" SERIES 1 |

The handbook on the Tdi says not to overfill these. They need to be removed and compressed in order to stop them being overfilled.I do not know why this is. Just goes to show the difference in the handbooks information wise. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel 1992 110 200tdi csw -Zikali 2008 110 2.4 tdci csw-Zulu 2011 110 2.4 tdci csw-Masai |
