Hey guys,
I am still new to the forum but from what I have read so far, it seems the place for answers. First some background... In November I decided to chop in my Disco 4 and get two used cars from Stratstone Cheltenham. They had a nice 3 year old HSE Freelander in the car park and the salesman explained he could find a nice Defender for me. I didn't really mind what defender it was, but I had 15k to spend on it. Straight away he found a nice green 57 plate Hard Top with under 15 k on the clock. As you can imagine I was quite excited about my toy. Unfortunately, due to it having private number plates on it, it took two weeks to arrive at Cheltenham so I actually had it for a whole day before I had to leave it for 4 months and go back to work. Whilst I was away my wife found that the number plates we had bee given were actually the wrong ones, so again it just sat idle. After a few emails we managed to get a new set sent so that is sorted. But now I find that even though I bought it through a landrover dealer ,and according to the approved website they both qualify for Land Rover Approved Warranty, I only actually get 6 months warranty. It would appear its my fault because I didn't ask, I assumed , but is this normal? I could find no mention of the 6 month warranty on the website and have been told I can pay for a 12 month one for 1390 pounds for the pair... Luckily I found it out with these cars , I had wanted a year old 'Full Fat' RR for the summer and I would have been gutted to have it happen on that one. So, am I being too harsh , should I just take it on the chin for not asking all the right questions, or do I have some come back? Cheers guys Steve |

It's a 57 plate, so why would you get longer than 6 months? Am I missing something? There is no warranty left on it so surely all the dealer is obliged to do is comply with the law etc?

If its sold as an Approved Used Vehicle, then you should get 12 months of the AUC warranty, do don't just leave it... Current:D4 HSE

Thanks Grockle, I will do a search now for customer services and just sent them the whole email chain, its great to know someone else thinks the same way as me.
BigMike, agreed it is a 57 but it does say on their website.... Land Rover Approved Warranty The Land Rover Approved Warranty is exclusively for vehicles that are under five years old and have covered less than 75,000 miles at the time of purchase, and is only available through an authorised Land Rover dealer. It provides a minimum of 12 months fully comprehensive Unlimited Mileage Warranty and is almost identical to the cover enjoyed on new Land Rover vehicles. Your Land Rover Approved Warranty can be extended to 24 months at the time of purchase. robpenrose, thanks for your reply mate, what is AUC |

AUC = Approved Used Car ???
I wouldn't be happy either. You should be entitled to the full 12 months it would seem from your quote. Having said that...if there's nothing wrong with it.... If you want to extend the warranty beyond the LR warranty, there are companies such as http://www.warrantydirect.co.uk/car-warranty.html who usually do better deals.
