Have to agree Zagato, I had experience of said Ford garage as a customer, before ending up unfortunately working there (for a short time).
The first occasion my focus had a recall on the tank sender unit, 10 days later I noticed the fuel tank had dropped to half full from full in the space of 20 minutes, I presumed the sender unit had failed again until the car stopped and I got out to find fuel spraying all over the rear suspension, the clip on fuel line had not been seated correctly! This could have been much worth....thinking raging inferno! still it woud have got rid of the thing The second rectification I had done was a replacement headlamp unit due to condensation forming inside it. They replaced the unit but I kid you not.....they forgot to put a bulb in....even though the workshop report stated they checked the alignment...love to know how that happened without a bulb. So it gets taken back, bulb gets fitted, but the headlamp levelling then didn't work and the grill surround and lamp mountings were broken, it looked as though somebody with no skill in a mad rush had done the work. If anybody has any experience with any good garages in or around South Yorkshire shout up, recomendations are always useful. Jonno |

yep I've worked with too many colleagues over the years who have spent time in mainstream dealers where oil and filter was the only thing done with maybe a squirt of grease in the door hinges to make them look conscientious. The only exception seemed to be BMW and SAAB dealers where things were done by the book - otherwise its just a money- hoovering operation. The pressure for profit is so great that its just 'wheel 'em in shove 'em out bish bash bosh take the cash ' in many cases. Most modern motors are so well engineered that oil is the only thing that really needs doing regularly unless something is broken or isn't working.

hello, my first post on this forum, my puma 110 xs utility is now 12 months old, i enquired at several dealers for a price on a first service, the lowest was £299 so i then phoned williams in manchester where i bought the puma from, i was quoted (with a loyalty discount) £340, i told them i could get it for £299 from other dealers but they would not budge so i took it to perrys in copley halifax, nice friendly dealer who with a discount you can download from there site charged £245 including courtesy car (only a corsa mind), to remind me what a sick world we live as i drove onto there forcourt ther was a 18 month old black 110 on the forcourt with all four doors missing the bonnet and back door, this was done evan with cctv over all the cars. this can happen anywhere of coarse i will use this dealer again

Hmmm - I would use the Dealer for the 1st and 2nd service.
For the 3rd, if there are no Warranty issues, then go to an Indie or DIY, as your Warranty has all but expired anyway... If you had to sell the vehicle for some unforseen reason within the first 3 years, it's value would be severely diminished if the Warranty was infringed... That's what I have just done with my XC70. Just before the warranry was due to expire (and the 3rd Service was due), I had it MOT's (Pass), was not aware of any Warranty issues, so I took it to a local Volvo Indie (Ron Sealey), and was very pleased with the service I recieved (and the bill!).
