EGR Valves
Hi,

Just wondering if there has been any advancement on the EGR valve problems.

I had mine changed out about a month ago. Car was blowing a bit of black smoke. Also with Pete's remap there is a fair power drop / lag at about 2300rpm. New EGR solve those problems but only for a couple of weeks.

Fault codes that show are

P0404
P0100
P0299
P0234

Landrover still don't seem to be fitting the new valves that Ford has?

Has anyone manged to prevent the MIL light coming on with the EGR blanked off?

I know its not really the answer especially when under warranty but couldn't simply go and buy a ford one or are they different?
I don't know what they cost but if relatively cheap it might be worth it?

Don't get me wrong the principle of doing this when a warranty should resolve it p!sses me off but technically would this be the answer?

Ive blanked my EGR off and the only time I get any black smoke is when I floor it in 6th from around 50ish.
I prevented the MIL light coming on by drilling a 10mm hole in the middle of the blanking plate. This reduces the higher intake pressure enough to prevent the light from coming on, with also the added affect of not recircing all the exhaust gas.

NOTE: I've also had a BAS remap!

Guys
to jump in and ask a dumb question, i assume from the comments above, that the EGR can be taken out, and a blank plate put in it's place, with a small hole in the midle?

if so, who does the plates? and what if any difference if made?

i have a JE Eng Remap -180BHP (calaimed) 450n/m torque (claimed) it goes linke stink and pulss heavy things well. Cheers

I will give the blanking plate with a hole drilled in it another go then! I only tried the plate without the hole.

Do you guys with the BAS remap get any hesitation through 2300 - 2500rpm when you put your foot down accelerating through the gears?

I have the Bas remap aswell and get this hesitation. Pete told me it was probably the EGR valve that was the problem. I had the same fault codes as you. Pete did me a smoother remap but the hesitation was still there but not quiet so bad. The told me to EGR valve was made of plastic so they don't last long!

The blanked (partially) plate will not give you any more grunt but it will make things run smoother with less smoke, when your EGR valve packs in and it will.
