Hi RRUK,

Just out of interest I bought the Mud td5 Facia plate, made fitting stereo & switches much easier, and when the rest of the console is sprayed black looks very good.

Just a thought.

Seats look really good, encouraged me to get a set from Dan as well - hope you are on commission Thumbs Up 2020 P300 HSE

I've looked at hundreds of pictures of Defender fronts and there seems to be a number of font sizes. Mine are certainly one of the larger versions.

I think the main problem is the spacing of the letters in each word. The kit comes ready to apply but until it's all stuck down, you can't tell what the end result will be.

I think it would look better if the letters in each word were closer together, this would then create a natural gap between the two words.

As it cost me money to buy the damned things I shall leave them for now and see if they still annoy me in a few weeks time when my memory has forgotten what I spent on them Big Cry 2016 D4 HSE

This is the standard Puma lettering - I think the font looks a bit smaller (I can go and measure it if you want Thumbs Up )

I'd like to know the size of the letters as the centre grille isn't wider on a Puma than a TD5, well not by any noticeable amount. 2016 D4 HSE

The front of the bonnet noticeably overhangs the grille more on each side though - compare the picture above to the one of yours. Might explain why the spacing is so difficult.

A great thread and quite a few bits that you have done at I am now adding to my ever growing list. Has the sound deadening and insulation made much difference so far? I am particularly interested in watching the rear headlining piece develop as well.

I am glad to see people spending as much on theirs as I have, makes me feel much better!

Sound deadening is worth it, especially over the cab area where my headlining was, LR don't put anything up there either. Got lots left over, not sure where to put it now!

Today the nets for the MUD side panels arrived as they are back in stock. Will fit those later today.

Bought a new Alpine Head unit and speakers ready to go in too, when the headlining arrives (that will be a big job and La Salle say its a 2 man job...I don't have 2 men!)

I just wish the weather would warm up a bit so I can set about the chassis/axle prep and painting, then waxoyling. Also want to do the suspension swap over but my hands go numb outside at the moment, I'm impatient but I guess I can wait.

Toying with the idea of removing the centre dash panel and spraying in Stornoway (as I have the paint for the RR already). It's a bit of a faff though, not sure if I can be bothered. 2016 D4 HSE

Built 2 panels out of ply and lined them with black carpet material for the interior rear quarter panels. (took some fettling)

Wired up the rear LED worklight to a switch on one of the panels. all looks very nice I have to say and mixes well with the MUD side panels, which are also in black.

The nets will have to wait till tomorrow now. Big Cry 2016 D4 HSE

The new La Salle headlining arrives this week sometime I have been told (at last!)

But the time it's taken to be made has given me the time to get all the above jobs done.

Spent all this weekend working on things and have now added a nice sturdy A Bar from Flatdog, OEM black chequer plate for the wing tops and bonnet and a rear LED worklight. (added a pic below of the front end )

The chequer plate was a much more involved job than I thought, but the countersunk screws look much nicer than rivets. Drilling nice body panels is heart breaking! Big Cry

Also added some OEM Land Rover bonnet lettering in black gloss, as the whole vehicle is a green and black theme. The jury is out on this bit. I love the letters but know the TD5 bonnets didn't have this so will see if they grow on me or not. Even though the kit comes all ready-spaced out, it doesn't quite look right, or maybe its me. I'm sure there will be a barage of slating remarks along any time soon.

The things for next weekend are to wire up the rear LED light - thinking of tapping a feed off the number plate feed with an inline switch. Then also to fashion some sort of interior panels for the rear quarter panels where you most likely have the little windows.

Not sure what to do with these but think I will cut some ply panels and cover them in a black low pile easy clean carpet, will hopefully look nicer than the silver sound deadening material. It would also give me somewhere to mount the switch for the rear LED.

Entire roof insulated and wired up, ready for new headlining from La Salle.

Only a few minor jobs today.

1. Fitted the MUD nets to the side panels to finally finish these off. I didn't have any black countersunk screw so sprayed some silver ones with satin black. Perfect, cheap, easy.

Note home made rear quarter panel with switch for rear LED Worklight

2. Fitted replacement Alpine Head Unit

3. Fitted OE Heated seat switches in readiness for wiring in the future
