Washed the Puma as it was white and crispy with road salt. After removing the salt found the rear crossmember has that nice shade of brown coming through and most of the rivets are rusty again. So thats a couple more jobs for me in the spring time. Think I will put the Puma into a body shop and get the crossmember painted properly with an extra couple of coats of clearcoat for protection.

Last week local stealers replaced the intercooler hose. Today all i hear on the highway is the sound of air whooshing whenever i accelerate and max speed dropped to 80(km/h) checked under the bonnet.... Surprise intercooler hose was very loose, tightened it and went on my with no problems and went on for a 7 hour trip round the desert (2pm-9pm).

In between the showers I looked at fitting the folding rear step that I bought from Farmer Giles. Need spacer as I have a Dixon Bate slider tow hitch which uses one of the welded ones that is required. Is there a thread on this ?
Also offered up my new auto console from Ashcroft's |

Sure am Tried doing it in the Series a while ago without pulling anything but the Rangemaster tyres are no good for the job. The "bank" is very steep and high with a crumbly loose surface (part of the North Downs! Dry crumbly clay soil with chalk ). I wouldn't attempt it in the old two wheel drive David Brown (too bloody steep, would worry about it flipping up, not that it would but ) but the four wheel drive DB would sort it no problem with front weights. The Defender handled it well despite the TC kicking in, It's like pulling a tree trunk up a tall sand dune with no run up, impressive ability Last edited by Zagato on 3rd Mar 2012 6:41pm.
